DisboMULTI 209 Fliesen- und Vielzweckklebstoff

Ready for use, dispersion based adhesive for bonding ceramic tiles, slabs, insulating materials and for pasting tiles onto tiles, also useable as a bonding bridge on smooth surfaces.

LV Texte

Field of Application

Suitable for laying tiles on wall surfaces in dry areas.
Also excellently applicable on floors by adding Portland Cement CEM I (PZ 35), in wet areas (showers and bathrooms), in exterior areas and for bonding tiles onto tiles. Do not use in underwater areas.
Suitable for bonding insulating materials and paper linings and for generating an adhesion promoting layer (bonding bridge) on smooth surfaces.
Used for repairing defects in renders/ plasters.

Material Properties

  • Suitable for bonding ceramic covering materials to EN 159, EN 176, DIN 18 158 and DIN 18 166.
  • Meets the requirements of DIN 18 156-D.
  • Becomes frost and water resistant by adding Portland Cement CEM I (PZ 35), and suitable for bonding tiles onto tiles.
  • Stable and highly flexible (resilient).

Material Base / Vehicle

Styrene acrylate dispersion

Packaging/Package Size

5 kg, 10 kg, 20 kg plastic bucket

Storage

Keep in a cool, dry, and frost-free place.
Shelf life of the original, tightly closed packaging: min. 1 year.

Density

approx. 1.6 g/cm3

Suitable Substrates

Laying ceramic tiles:
Substrates as indicated in DIN 18 157 parts 2 and 4, such as renders/plasters to DIN 18 550 in the mortar groups P II, P III, P IVa,P IVb, P V, masonry, concrete (older than 28 days where Disbomulti® 209 is to be applied without additives), gypsum wall-boards, gypsum plasterboards, AAC (autoclaved aerated concrete), existing ceramic tile covered surfaces, wood chip-boards (walls), rigid foam plastic composite panels, heated cement-based screeds, cement-based screeds and mastic-asphalt (indoors). According to DIN 18 202 the surfaces must be sufficiently even, sound, free from continuous cracks and free from all separating materials that may prevent good adhesion of the bonding material, e.g. form release agents, loose components, binder concentrations, efflorescence and soiling.

Bonding insulating materials:
All absorbent, mineral substrates being sound/solid and free from all materials that will affect the bonding qualities of the material.

Substrate Preparation

Laying ceramic tiles:
Prime absorbent, mineral surfaces with CapaSol LF Konzentrat. Prime moisturesensitive surfaces (particle boards and gypsum building materials) with Caparol Tiefgrund TB or - in moist areas - with a liquid surface sealant.

Preparation of Material

Laying ceramic tiles:
Ready for use on dry wall areas.
For other applications, e.g. heated cement-based screeds (indoors), damp locations, existing tile-covered surfaces, balconies, terraces, base areas of buildings, etc. prepare am mixture of Disbomulti® 209 and Portland-Cement CEM I (PZ 35) consisting of:
Disbomulti® 209, 100 % by weight
Portlandzement CEM I (PZ 35), 20 % by weight
Mix thoroughly with an electrical paddle/agitator and adjust to working consistency by adding small quantities of tap water or cement, if necessary.

Bonding insulating materials:
Ready made for bonding in the interiors. Add 20 % Portland Cement CEM I (PZ 35) for bonding on non-absorbent or slightly absorbent substrates in the interiors.

Repair material:
Prepair the Repair material consisting of:
Disbomulti® 209 40 % parts by weight (= 5 parts by volume)
Portland Cement CEM I (PZ 35) 10 % parts by weight (= 1 part by volume)
Sand 50 % parts by weight (= 5 parts by volume)
Mix thoroughly with an electrical paddle/agitator and adjust to working consistency by adding small quantities of tap water or  cement, if necessary.

Bonding paper linings:
Add a maximum of 5% by weight of tap water for roller/brush application.

Adhesion promoting coat (bonding bridge):
Add 20% to 30% by weight of tap water.

Method of Application

Laying ceramic tiles:
Apply a first layer of material to the well prepared surface with the "Floating" technique using the flat side of a notched scraper/trowel to spread evenly.
Then apply material wet on wet onto this contact coat (blade angle of notched scraper: approx. 45° to 60°) and draw with the notched side of the tool across the surface. Depending on sizes and reverse side profiles of the tiles to be applied, use only notched scrapers meeting the requirements of DIN 18 157 part 2, table 1.
Apply the ceramic tiles sliding and pressing into the freshly applied adhesive layer. Do not apply more adhesive than may be covered by tiles within 30 minutes (at 20 °C and 60% relative humidity).
Use the combined "floating-buttering method” when applying on terraces or balconies, as indicated in DIN 18 157 part 1, 7.33. In doing so, the back of ceramic tiles is additionally coated with adhesive.

Recommended notched scraper/trowel (with squarish notch profile) depending on lateral length of ceramic tile coverage:
Up to 50 mm        3 mm notch
50 to 108 mm      4 mm notch
108 to 200 mm    6 mm notch
above 200 mm     8 mm notch
above 300 mm     special size

Bonding insulating materials:
Apply the adhesive in spot, strip, or full coverage form. Roughen the bonding surfaces of extruded or foam-moulded boards.

Bonding paper linings:
Apply adhesive with a notched scraper, roller or brush and immediately hang the paper lining.

Consumption

Laying tiles1 – 3.5 kg/m2 depending on notched trowel profile
Bonding insulating material1–3 kg/m2
Paper lining1–2 kg/m2
Adhesion promoting coat (bonding bridge)0.5–0.8 kg/m2

Application Conditions

Material, Atmospheric, and Substrate Temperature:
Min. 5 °C

Drying/Drying Time

At 20 °C and 60 % relative humidity, on absorbent after 2, on non-absorbent wall or floor surfaces after 3 days.

Tool Cleaning

Immediately after use or during longer breaks. Clean with water or warm soapy water.

Please Note (Status as at Date of Publication)

Keep out of reach of children. In case of contact with eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water. Do not allow into drains, water courses or soils.

Safety data sheet is available on request for professional users.

Disposal

Materials and all related packaging must be disposed of in a safe way in accordance with the full requirements of the local authorities. Particular attention should be given to removing wastage from site in compliance with standard construction site procedures. In Germany: Only completely emptied containers should be given for recycling. Dispose of liquid material residue as disposal of water-mixable adhesives, residues of dried material as disposal of hardened adhesives or via domestic waste. European Waste Code (EWC): 08 04 10
