Multicoloured, highly durable (hard-wearing) interior wall coating. Eminently suitable for application on interior surfaces in offices, halls, stairways, reception and living areas without additional finishing coat.

Suitable Substrates
The substrate must be sound/stable, dry, clean, and free from all substances that may prevent good adhesion. In Germany: Follow VOB, part C, DIN 18363, section 3.Substrate Preparation
Textured Substrates:
Adherent woodchip wallpaper or glass fabrics and slightly to medium textured interior plasters: Apply one covering/hiding intermediate coat of Putzgrund 610 before applying VarioPutz. Perhaps two coats of VarioPutz may be necessary.
Plasters in Mortar Groups/Classes P II (Lime-Cement Mortars)
and PIII (Cement Mortars):
Apply one covering/hiding coat of Putzgrund 610 on solid plasters with normal absorbency.
Prime highly porous, absorbent plasters with OptiGrund or CapaSol, then apply one hiding intermediate coat of Putzgrund 610.
Gypsum and Ready-Mixed Gypsum Plasters in Mortar Group PIV:
Sand/grind sintered gypsum plasters (remove sintered skin and sanding dust), then prime with Caparol-Tiefgrund TB or AmphiSilan-Putzfestiger.
Apply one covering/hiding priming coat of Putzgrund 610 on surfaces with normal absorbency.
Gypsum Wallboards:
Apply one covering/hiding priming coat of Putzgrund 610 on normally absorbent surfaces.
Gypsum Plasterboards (Sandwich-Type Plaster Boards / Drywalls):
Sand/grind off filler burrs. Prime and strengthen soft and roughened gypsum areas (repairs) with Caparol-Tiefgrund TB or AmphiSilan-Putzfestiger.
Apply one covering/hiding priming coat of Putzgrund 610 on normally absorbent surfaces.
Apply one priming coat of Caparol AquaSperrgrund on boards containing water-soluble substances that leave marks. In Germany: Follow BFS Data Sheet No. 12, part 2.
Concrete:
Remove all residues of separating agents and chalking or sanding substances. Apply one covering/hiding priming coat of Putzgrund 610 on normally absorbent surfaces.
Unstable Existing Coatings:
Remove unstable coatings of enamel and dispersion/emulsion paint or synthetic (organic) plaster. Prime highly porous, sanding or absorbent substrates with OptiGrund or CapaSol.
Mildewed Surfaces:
Remove fungal attack (fungi/mildew/mould) by wet brushing-off or chipping, then use Capatox and allow the surface to dry well.
Surfaces Stained by Nicotine, Water, Soot or Fat/Grease:
Remove nicotine, soot or fat/grease stains by washing with tap water adding a fat-dissolving household detergent, then allow the substrate to dry well. Clean dried-up water stains by dry brush cleaning. Apply one insulating priming coat of Caparol AquaSperrgrund (Technical Information No. 384).
Small Defects:
After having completed the necessary preparations, repair small defects with Caparol-Akkordspachtel
in accordance with our application instructions, and if necessary, prime subsequently.
Advice:
Uneven substrates cannot be leveled with Capadecor VarioPutz. Differences in the substrate (filler repairs, electric cable markings, etc.) must previously be treated by suitable means to obtain an even surface.
Method of Application
Apply with paint roller or suitable spray equipment (high pressure spraying method).Surface Coating System
Intermediate Coat:
After having finished the necessary substrate preparations, apply one even and hiding coat of Putzgrund 610, tinted to match the selected colour of VarioPutz (see colour list). Apply contrast-free and roll over trimming areas, where possible.
It might be necessary to apply two intermediate coats on slightly absorbent or high-contrast surfaces. Intermediate coats without quartz content are unsuitable.
Roller Application:
Stir VarioPutz with a slow turning electric paddle mixer or manually. Apply undiluted product liberally, wet-on-wet using suitable and well prepared (soaked) paint roller without connecting bar, then spread evenly. Do not underrun the given consumption to avoid an adverse effect on the visual appearance.
Allow to flash off for a sufficiently long time, then wipe over the surface with soft brushes (e.g. oval brushes) to avoid visible roller marks. The necessary airing/flash-off time varies depending on conditions on site: approx. 10 to 30 minutes or longer at high RH. Two roller applied coats are possible to avoid an uneven surface (clouding effect).
Spray Application:
Stir VarioPutz with a slow turning electric paddle mixer and apply undiluted product with suitable spraying equipment. Spray in slightly rotary motion and do notrework by brush.
Nozzle: 4 - 5 mm, air pressure: 2.5 - 3.5 bar, distance to the wall: approx. 60 - 80 cm
Consumption
Roller application: Min. 400 g/m2, determine the exact consumption by a trial coating.Spray application: Approx. 800 - 1100 g/m2, determine the exact consumption by a trial coating.
Application Conditions
Min. +8 °C for product, substrate and ambient air during application and drying. RH below 65 %.Drying/Drying Time
At +20 °C and 65 % relative humidity surface-dry after 6 - 8 hours. Cured and ready for stress (loadable) after approx. 3 days. Lower temperatures and higher humidity extend the drying time.Tools
Suitable rollers: Use paint rollers with a pile height of 12 to 16 mm.Suitable spraying equipment: Hopper spray gun.
Tool Cleaning
Clean paint rollers and spraying equipment immediately after use with tap water.Note
Always use product of same batch, when applying on large (seamless) surfaces and apply in one go, in order to avoid lapping and colour deviation.Due to the use of Caparol-Tiefgrund TB in interiors, a typical solvent odour is released, hence proper ventilation must be provided during the application. Use non-aromatic, low-odour AmphiSilan-Putzfestiger in sensitive areas.
Reworking gypsum filling compounds may cause swelling, blistering or flaking/spalling due to long lasting moisture exposure. Hence provide for fast drying by means of sufficient ventilation and temperature.

Disposal
Materials and all related packaging must be disposed of in a safe way in accordance with the full requirements of the local authorities. Particular attention should be made to removing wastage from site in compliance with standard construction site procedures.In Germany: Only completely empty containers should be handed in for recycling. Dispose containers with residues of liquid product via waste collection point accepting old paints and enamels. Dispose dried/hardened product residues as construction site/demolition/municipal or domestic waste.
