Field of Application
Special formula to achieve highly appealing glaze (scumble) coats, suitable for interior wall surfaces. The glaze consists of bright pigmented particles, which do not mix with other colour pigments after tinting. On light-coloured substrates they create a high-grade, remarkable sophisticated visual appearance.Material Properties
- Water-dilutable, ecologically compatible, low odour.
- Safe application.
- For versatile use.
- Discreet polychromy due to variegated particles.
- Resistant to aqueous disinfectants
- wet scrub resistant class 2 according DIN EN 13300
Packaging/Package Size
2.5 litres
Colours
Transparent with bright particles.
Tinting:
ArteVelvet can be tinted via ColorExpress following the Caparol 3D-System PLUS. Please note: Colour shades of applied glazes on walls might be somewhat different from the original hues of Caparol 3D-System PLUS due to their semi-transparent/-opaque/translucent characteristics, application method, applied film thickness and colour of the substrate to be coated.
Gloss Level
Silk-matt / satin-finished (mid sheen) after drying.Storage
Keep in a cool, but frost-free place.Keep partially used containers always tightly closed.
Wet abrasion
Wet scrub resistance Class 2 as per DIN EN 13300, corresponds to "scrub resistant" as per German standard DIN 53778

Suitable Substrates
Interior walls and ceilings made of gypsum plasters and ready-made gypsum mortars of mortar group PIV, gypsum cardboards and gypsum building boards in interiors.Alkaline substrates are not suitable for being coated with Capadecor ArteVelvet, thus must be prepared correspondingly before applying the product.
The substrate must be sound/stable, dry, clean, and free from all substances that may prevent good adhesion. In Germany: Follow VOB, part C, DIN 18363, section 3.
Follow Technical Information No. 650 for substrate preparation.
Substrate Preparation
Coarse (roughly textured) substrates, walls made of plasterboards and all walls and ceilings subjected to adverse lighting conditions (sided/grazing light) should be prepared to match quality level Q4.Intermediate sanding after drying of filler coat (up to P200 - 240 grit). Then prime with CapaSol in order to equalize the absorption capacity and for embedding dust particles.
Substrates of approximately quality level Q4 can directly be coated with Capadecor DecoGrund, as described below (see "Priming Coat:").
Surface Coating System
Priming Coat:Roller-apply one priming coat of Capadecor DecoGrund, tinted to match the finishing coat in shade, diluted 10 % with tap (potable) water, then wipe over with a scumble brush.
Finishing Coat:
ArteVelvet is applied with a short-pile roller (do not use a lengthening piece), in short cross-wise strokes. ArteVelvet is optionally applicable by brush. Allow to flash off for a short time (only the projecting particles should remain moist on the surface), then smoothen the slightly hardened surface crosswise using the special ArteTwin trowel. Hereby the coloured particles of ArteVelvet are slightly flattened and provide for an additional effect of "vivacity".
Please Note: If the surface is not tranquil enough after having applied the finishing coat, then a second top coat may become necessary to equalise the surface appearance. Thus, it is highly advisable to previously check the achievable surface effect by coating a test area on site.
Consumption
Approx. 160 - 180 ml/m2 per coat. Determine the exact amount of material required by coating a test area on site.Application Conditions
Low Temperature Limit for Application and Drying:+5 °C for product, ambient air and substrate.
Drying/Drying Time
At +20 °C and 65 % relative humidity surface-dry after approx. 4 hours.Tool Cleaning
Immediately after use with soapy water.German Certificates
