Suitable Substrates
Interior surfaces: Mineral plasters in mortar groups PII (lime-cement mortars), PIII (cement mortars), PIV (gypsum mortar and ready-mixed gypsum plaster), plasterboards, gypsum wallboards and concrete. The substrate must be dry, clean, sound/stable, planar (trowelled up smoothly), without any colour contrast, and free from all substances that may prevent good adhesion.
In Germany: Follow VOB, part C, DIN 18363, section 3.
Follow Technical Information No. 650 for substrate preparation.
Substrate Preparation
Coarse (roughly textured) substrates, walls made of plasterboards and all walls and ceilings subjected to adverse lighting conditions (sided/grazing light) should be prepared to match quality level Q4.Intermediate sanding after drying of filler coat (up to P200-240 grit). Then prime with CapaSol in order to equalize the absorption capacity and for embedding dust particles
Substrates of approximately quality level Q4 can directly be coated with Capadecor DecoGrund, as described (see "Priming Coat:").
Method of Application
Priming Coat:
Roller-apply one priming coat of Capadecor DecoGrund, tinted to match the finishing coat in shade, then smoothen with a Venetian trowel, avoiding deeper trowel marks or burrs.
Intermediate Coat:
On large, seamless surfaces: Apply Stucco Eleganza wet-on-wet with a Venetian trowel, thus avoiding prematurely drying.
Providing that min. 2 hands are on the job, apply Stucco Eleganza using a short pile roller and then smoothen with a Venetian trowel. Therefore apply such an amount of product that the surface can be smoothened before it begins to set.
Finishing Coat:
The finishing coat is effected in the same way as desribed above for intermediate coat, but due to individual working methods, the final work step should always be carried out by only one skilled worker per surface.
Thinning
Apply Stucco Eleganza always undiluted.Consumption
Approx. 50 - 70 ml/m2 per coat (work step). Determine the exact amount of material required by coating a test area on site.
Application Conditions
Low Temperature Limit for Application and Drying:+5 °C for product, ambient air and substrate.
Drying/Drying Time
At + 20 °C and 65 % relative humidity surface-dry after 30 - 60 minutes. Completely cured and ready for stress after 1 - 2 days. Lower temperatures and higher relative humidity extend the drying time.Tools
For applying Stucco Eleganza the use of a short pile roller (10 - 12 mm piles) and abrasion-resistant Venetian trowel is advisable. Before doing so, generally smooth the trowel with wet abrasive paper (400 - 600 grit) and remove sharp edges.Tool Cleaning
Immediately after use with soapy water.Note
Advice for Cleaning and Care:Always check for cleanability, previously by trials (test area), working with due care. Note: Changes in surface appearance, caused by cleaning, are not removable.
Depending on the colour shade of coating, the surface of Stucco Eleganza may show minor scratch marks, when being stressed (low "writing resistance").
