Field of Application
Suitable for design and protection of dimensionally unstable wooden parts, such as terrace or balcony flooring and in the garden area, for fences, pergolas, panelling/plankings, climbing trellis and garden furniture. In Germany: Follow BFS Data Sheet No. 18 section 2.2.3 et seqq. before applying board-shaped derived timber products, as e.g. SWP (solid wood panels), laminated veneer lumber, chipboards and fibreboards. Do not use for wood in direct contact with water (permanent moisture), contact to soil/earth/ground and wood subjected to static loads.

Suitable Substrates
Absorbent, dimensionally limited stable or unstable wooden parts, preferably Bangkirai, Oregon Pine and Teak. Also suitable for use on e.g. robinia (locust) and cedarwood. The substrate must be clean, sound/stable, and free from all substances that may prevent good adhesion. The wood moisture content (WMC) in parts of unstable shape must not exceed 12 % for hardwood or 15 % for conifers/soft wood.
Follow the principles of constructional/structural wood preservation. They are a premise for durable wood preservation with coating materials. In Germany: Follow BFS Data Sheet No. 18.
Substrate Preparation
New Wood
Sand smooth surfaces in fibre direction, clean thoroughly and remove seeping wood contents, e.g. wood resin/rosin and resin galls (resin/pitch pockets).
Existing Unpainted Wood
Sand/grind off greyed, weathered surfaces to the stable, solid substrate and clean the surface very thoroughly.
Coated Wood
Remove existing coatings like enamel and high build wood stain to the stable, absorbent wood and clean thoroughly. Sand the surface of adherent low build wood stain (translucent glaze) and clean thoroughly. Then check for compatibility with the product.
Note:
Terrace flooring and timber floor boards must have adequate time to fully dry (permissible WMC: max. 12 %) after wet cleaning. A drying time of a couple of days should always be observed before applying wood oil.
Method of Application
Apply undiluted product evenly with a brush or whitewash brush. Remove excess product, depending on drying, using a lintfree cloth. Treat large areas and seamless surfaces uninterruptedly wet-on-wet to avoid lapping.
Stir Capadur Holz-Öl before use and in between.
Consumption
Brush Application on Smooth Surfaces:Approx. 90 - 110 ml/m2 per coat, depending on the substrate's absorbency.
Brush Application on Unplaned Surfaces:
Approx. 120 - 160 ml/m2 per coat, depending on the substrate's absorbency.
Consumption are only guide values and may vary depending on substrate requirements.
Determine the exact amount of material required by coating a test area on site.
Application Conditions
Lower Temperature Limit for Application & Drying:Min. 5 °C for product, ambient air and substrate.
Relative humidity must not exceed 80 %.
Drying/Drying Time
At 20 °C and 65 % relative humidity | dust dry | recoatable | rain resistant |
after hours | 2 - 3 | 4 - 5 | 24 |
Drying time and gloss level are influenced by the substrate's absorbency. Wood contents (ingredients) may lead to delayed drying.
Stressable after min. 6 - 8 days.
Tool Cleaning
Immediately after use with white spirit.Special Risks (Hazard Note) / Safety Advice (Status as at Date of Publication)
May produce an allergic reaction. If medical advice is needed, have product container or label at hand. Keep out of reach of children. Contains Fatty acids, C18-unsatd., dimers, compds. with coco alkylamines. Do not get in eyes, on skin, or on clothing. IF ON SKIN: Wash with plenty of soap and water. Use P2 dust filter for grinding. Do not breathe spray dust. Use A2/P2 combination filter for paint spraying. Please note: Flammable materials soaked with this product such as cloth, steel wool and wood shavings, can, after evaporation of the solvent, be self igniting within a short time. Therefore soak up spilled product with sand only.Disposal
Materials and all related packaging must be disposed of in a safe way in accordance with the full requirements of the local authorities. Particular attention should be made to removing wastage from site in compliance with standard construction site procedures.
In Germany: Only completely empty containers should be handed in for recycling. Dispose containers with residues of liquid product via waste collection point accepting old paints and enamels. Dispose dried/hardened product residues as construction site/demolition/municipal or domestic waste.
