Suitable Substrates

Wood component parts (dimensionally stable, limited stable or of unstable shape).

Defects on wooden parts (rottenness/decay) indicate wetness due to dammed-up water. They are normally caused by structural defects/deficiencies which must be repaired before using Capadur Repair AS.
Histolith® Sanopas-Holzrisspaste can be used instead, when timber framing has to be
repaired considering aspects of care and preservation of ancient monuments.

Maximum permissible wood moisture content (WMC): 15 %

Substrate Preparation

Wood component parts must be checked for being free of structural defects. Deficiencies must be remediated in a proper, technically correct manner.

Shape/mill all cracks and open timber joints for min. 5 mm wide and 5 mm deep. Completely remove all decomposed or insufficiently stable wood by shaping/milling or sawing. (Suitable tools: Fein Multimaster or spherical-head shaper, delivered by miscellaneous manufacturers). Thoroughly remove all wood dust.

Mixing Ratio

Mix component A and B in ratio 1 : 1 (parts by volume).

Method of Application

Mixing: Pour same parts by volume of component A (red) and component B (beige) in required quantity into a suitable vessel, then stir slowly and thoroughly to obtain a homogeneous mixture.

Application:  Brush apply Capadur Repair P thoroughly and evenly in order to achieve a proper wetting effect of the full area to be repaired. Then allow the primer to flash off for min. 20 minutes (but no longer than max. 2 hours) and apply Capadur Repair AS to the primed area. Note: The primer must not be wet. Remove all excess product with a cloth.

Large repair patches are to be filled with fitted bits of wood (insert to the repair compound). Take care to provide for a min. 5 mm wide joint of repair compound on all sides between filling bits of wood and the wood component part. Prime all contact surfaces with Capadur Repair P and, after a flash off time of 20 minutes (2 hrs. at the latest), apply Capadur Repair AS onto the full surface. Lay in all bits of wood avoiding blistering and remove all excess product with a scraper.
