Field of Application
Solvent-based, colourless or coloured mid-coat glaze for the design and protection of limited and non-dimensionally stable wooden components (e.g. fences, balcony parapets, facade cladding, carports, pergolas). Very well suited for quick reworking during exterior renovation work.
Before coating panel-shaped wood materials (e.g. solid wood panels), please observe the instructions in BFS data sheet no. 18, section 2.2.3 ff.

Suitable Substrates
Limited and non-dimensionally stable wooden components. The substrate must be clean, stable and free from separating substances. The exterior wood moisture content must not exceed 12 % on average for hardwoods and 15 % on average for softwoods. The principles of constructive wood protection must be observed. These are a prerequisite for durable wood protection with coating materials.Substrate Preparation
The wooden surfaces must be cleaned of dust, dirt, resin pockets, grease, oil, etc. before coating. Thoroughly brush off any sanding dust or loose residue from old coats. Silicone residues lead to levelling problems.New Wooden Parts:
Sand smooth and planed wood surfaces in the direction of the grain and clean thoroughly. Remove escaping wood substances such as resins and resin pockets.
Untreated exterior wood should be coated immediately before it is exposed to the weather (UV radiation, precipitation, wind). Otherwise, reduced paint adhesion caused by the formation of a separating layer is to be expected. The degree of problematic nature of this separating layer cannot be determined with standard building site tests.
Untreated Existing Wood:
Sand greyed, weathered wood surfaces down to the healthy, stable wood and clean thoroughly.
Coated Wood:
Completely remove old coatings that are not stable down to the wood. Sand and clean adhering old coatings and check for compatibility with Capadur ClassicLasur.
Method of Application
Application:Stir Capadur ClassicLasur before use.
Apply two coats undiluted. For maintenance coats on Capadur ClassicLasur, apply one or two undiluted coats. Only spray in closed systems with extraction equipment.
Surface Coating System
| Substrate | Impregnation on wood at risk of blue stain | Priming/Intermediate Coat | Finishing Coat |
| Limited stable and unstable wood | Capalac Holz-Imprägniergrund | 1 - 2 x Capadur ClassicLasur | Capadur ClassicLasur |
Consumption
Brush application on smooth wooden surfaces:Approx. 60 - 80 ml/m2 depending on the absorbency of the substrate
Brush application on rough sawn wood surfaces:
Approx. 85-105 ml/m2 depending on the absorbency of the substrate.
The consumption values are reference values that may vary depending on the substrate and substrate condition. Exact consumption values can only be determined by prior test coatings.
Application Conditions
- Material, circulating air and substrate temperature: at least 5 °C (favourable range: 10 to 25 °C)
- Relative humidity must not exceed 80 %.
Drying/Drying Time
At 23 °C and 55 % relative humidity:recoatable after 6-8 h, rainproof after 12 h.
Tool Cleaning
Clean tools after use with synthetic resin thinner or universal thinner.Special Risks (Hazard Note) / Safety Advice (Status as at Date of Publication)
