Suitability according to Technical Information No. 606 Definition of Application Areas
|Interior 1||Interior 2||Interior 3||Exterior 1||Exterior 2|
|(–) inapplicable / (○) of limited suitability / (+) suitable|
Suitable SubstratesPrimed wood and metal, sound/stable existing coatings and primed, non-alkaline render/plaster surfaces of sufficient strength.
Exterior wooden parts: Only pores and small defects can be filled. Larger filler applications on exterior wood construction elements are not allowed, as per German BFS Data Sheet No 18.
Exterior metal surfaces: Only small damaged spots can be repaired.
Render/plaster coatings: The product is only suitable for interior use.
The substrate must be sound/stable, clean and dry. Prime wood, metal or render/plaster surfaces. Roughen (sand/grind) stable existing coatings to obtain a matt (flat) surface.
|Stable existing enamel coatings||Capacryl Haftprimer|
|Iron, steel||Capalac AllGrund|
|Render/plaster surfaces||Caparol OptiGrund|
Method of ApplicationApplication:
Level surfaces or damaged spots, several times if necessary, using a stainless filler/stopping knife (spatula). Maximum wet layer thickness: 1000 µm per coat. Allow to dry, then sand/grind the surface, if necessary. Apply an intermediate coat.
ConsumptionApprox. 900 g/m2 at a wet layer thickness of 500 µm.
Consumption is only a guide value and may vary, depending on substrate requirements.
Determine the exact amount of material required by trials on site.
Application ConditionsTemperature for Product, Ambient Air and Substrate:
Min. 5 °C, max. 30 °C during application and curing.
Drying/Drying TimeAt 20 °C and 60 % relative humidity sandable/grindable after 1 - 3 hours, depending on coating thickness. Recoatable after 3 - 5 hours with water-dilutable (waterborne) enamels and after
8 - 10 hours with solvent-based alkyd resin enamels or priming/undercoating varnish.
