Capalac Aqua Multiprimer

The reliable protection with triple effect

LV Texte
  • Field of Application

Suitable for adhesion promoting priming coats on existing paint and enamel coatings, wood, zinc/galvanised substrates, copper, unplasticized/rigid PVC and many other substrates after having checked for good adhesion (cross cut adhesion test).
Primer-sealer, effective against wood extractives. Corrosion inhibiting primer for iron and steel. Suitable for the application of subsequent finishing coats of Capacryl PU-Satin/Gloss or Capadur Wetterschutzfarbe NQG/Matt. Applicable outdoors and indoors.

    Material Properties

    Suitable Substrates

Stable existing coatings, wood and derived timber products, zinc/galvanised surfaces, copper, iron and steel, unplaticized (rigid) PVC. Unsuitable for use on stainless steel. Do not apply in the area of housetops/roofing.  The substrate must be clean, sound/stable, dry, and free from all materials that may prevent good adhesion. Max. permissible moisture content in dimensionally stable wood: 13 %; in limited dimensionally stable or unstable wood: 15 %.
Sealing of seeping wood components cannot be guaranteed in each case. Discolouration of coats may occur, if highly soluble wood components/extractives are present. Hence it is always advisable to check for sufficient sealing power by coating a test area on site.

    Substrate Preparation

    Wooden Parts:
Sand the surface in fibre direction, clean thoroughly, remove exuding wood extractives, e.g. wood resin/rosin and resin galls, cut sharp edges (see BFS Data Sheet No. 18).

    Zinc/Galvanised Surfaces, Unplasticized (Rigid) PVC:
Wash with light ammonia solution using sanding pad according to BFS Data Sheets No. 5 and No. 22.

    Copper:
Clean with nitro-thinner or phosphoric-acid solution using sanding pad to BFS Data Sheet No. 6.

    Iron, Steel:
Derust to industry standard SA 2 ½ according to DIN EN ISO 12944 part 4.

    Existing Paint Coatings:
Sand the surface of existing coatings slightly and clean thoroughly. Remove unstable existing coatings.

    Method of Application

Apply undiluted Capalac Aqua Multiprimer with Orelmix brush, short pile/nap enamel roller or airless spraying equipment.

    • A trial application and check for adhesion by cross-cut test according to DIN EN 2409 must be completed for critical surfaces, e.g. powder coatings and coil coatings.
    • An additional finishing coat may be necessary on colours with low opacity (hiding/covering power), e.g. red, yellow and orange colour shades.
    • Apply two coats of Capalac Aqua Multiprimer on wooden parts with a high content of discolouring substances and also on knots. Allow to dry for at least 12 hours per coat; only then the discolouring wood extractives can be embedded into the priming coat.

    Consumption

Approx. 100 – 130 ml/m2 per coat. Consumption is a reference value and may vary depending on substrate requirements. The exact rate of consumption is best established by a trial coating.

    Application Conditions

Lower Temperature Limit for Application and Drying:
Min. 5 °C for product, substrate and ambient air.
Relative humidity must not exceed 80 %.

Lower temperatures and higher humidity extend the drying time.

    Tool Cleaning

Clean tool after use with water and wetting agent, e.g. Gescha Multi-Star. It is recommended
    the wearing of nitrile gloves.

Special Risks (Hazard Note) / Safety Advice (Status as at Date of Publication)

If medical advice is needed, have product container or label at hand. Keep out of reach of children. May produce an allergic reaction.

    Disposal

Materials and all related packaging must be disposed of in a safe way in accordance with the full requirements of the local authorities. Particular attention should be made to removing wastage from site in compliance with standard construction site procedures. In Germany: Only completely emptied clean cans/containers should be given for recycling. Dispose containers with residues of liquid material as remnants of water-based paints and dried material as hardened paints waste or via domestic waste.
