Capalac Kunstharz-Klarlack

Suitable Substrates

Indoors: Coated and uncoated wood construction elements.
Iron, steel, aluminum, copper in interior areas, without any risk of corrosion and oxidization effects.
Outdoors: Glazed/stained or painted, dimensionally stable wooden parts (do not use as a transparent coating on exterior wood, there is no UV protection).
Interior and Exterior: Alkyd resin enamels and Capalac Dickschichtlack. Do not use for parquet floors.

The substrate must be clean, sound/stable, dry and free from all substances that may prevent good adhesion. The moisture content (WMC) must not exceed 12 % for hardwood and 15 % for softwood, on an average.

Substrate Preparation

Wooden Parts:
Sand the surface in fibre direction, clean thoroughly, remove all seeping wood contents, e.g. resin/rosin and resin-galls (pitch/resin pockets) and cut sharp edges (see BFS Data Sheet No. 18).

Metals,  interior:
Derust iron and steel. Remove all oxidation products and clean aluminium and coppper thoroughly with diluent for cellulose lacquers (nitro-thinner).

Varnished Surfaces:
Sand/grind with plastic abrasive pad/non-woven web (not necessary when using glimmer colours), then clean the surface.

Method of Application

Capalac Kunstharz-Klarlack can be applied by brush, roller or spraying equipment. The product is ready-to-use for brush application. For Aircoat spray application, heat up the material before use (TempSpray).

1)	A sufficient UV protection must be provided by the pigmentation for glazes/wood stain. Capalac Kunstharz-Klarlack is no UV protection, it is only a transparent sealer.
2)	Pre-treat defects in existing coatings according to substrate requirements.
Note: Adhesion must be tested in advance for powder coatings, coil coatings and other critical/problematic substrates by trial coatings (test area) on site.

These reference values for consumption may vary, depending on nature and condition of the substrate. Determine the exact amount of material required by coating a test area on site.

Application Conditions

Lower Temperature Limit for Application and Drying:
Min. 5 °C for product, ambient air and substrate.
Relative humidity must not exceed 80 %.

Immediately after use with white spirit or turpentine substitute.

Gloss:
Flammable liquid and vapour. Repeated exposure may cause skin dryness or cracking. Keep out of reach of children. Keep away from heat/sparks/open flames/hot surfaces. - No smoking. Do not breathe dust/ fume/ gas/ mist/ vapours/ spray. Do not get in eyes, on skin, or on clothing. Use only outdoors or in a well-ventilated area. Avoid release to the environment. IF SWALLOWED: rinse mouth. Do NOT induce vomiting. Store in a well-ventilated place.
Contains: butanone oxime. May produce an allergic reaction.

Silk-matt (mid sheen):

Disposal

Materials and all related packaging must be disposed of in a safe way in accordance with the full requirements of the local authorities. Particular attention should be made to removing wastage from site in compliance with standard construction site procedures.
In Germany: Only completely empty containers should be handed in for recycling. Dispose containers with residues of liquid product via waste collection point accepting old paints and enamels. Dispose dried/hardened product residues as construction site/demolition/municipal or domestic waste.

EU limit value for the VOC content

of this product (Kat. A/e): 400 g/l (2010). This product contains max. 400 g/l VOC.
