Suitable Substrates

Mineral substrates, solid old renders, stable old paint or coatings, as well as other stable, even substrates and in accordance with the information in the general Building authority approval / general type approvals for the ETICS.

Substrate Preparation

Pre-treat substrates in accordance with the processing instructions for the adhesive mortar.

Consumption

1.0 m2/m2; plus offcuts

Application Conditions

During application and the curing phase, the temperature of the environment and substrate must not fall below +5°C or rise above 30°C. In the event of unfavourable weather conditions, take appropriate measures to protect the treated façade surfaces.

Bonding of Insulation Boards

- Lay insulation boards and butt joints tightly
- Butt joints must remain free of adhesive
- Avoid height offset at the board joints
- Damaged insulation boards must not be installed

Manual bonding of the insulation board:
Bonding is carried out using mineral adhesive mortar suitable for the system. The adhesive must be applied to the back of the board, which is marked with strips, using the toothed bed method so that the entire surface is bonded to the substrate. For full-surface adhesive application to the wall, comb through the adhesive with a notched trowel (the width and depth of the teeth depends on the condition of the substrate) immediately before attaching the insulation board. The insulation boards must be pressed, floated in and pressed onto the substrate immediately, after 10 minutes at the latest, with the side to which the adhesive has been applied.

Base fire protection zone:
After sufficient curing time of the adhesive, the Capatect MW-Brandriegel 152 must be additionally fixed with 3 anchors per strip element. Building authority approved anchors with steel expansion element such as Capatect Universaldübel 053 or Capatect Schlagdübel 061 must be used for fixing. Edge and intermediate distances of the anchors: at least 10 cm upwards and downwards, maximum 20 cm to the side edges of a fire break strip element and maximum 40 cm to the neighbouring anchor.

Room fire protection zone:
In the "room fire" protection zone, the Capatect MW-Brandriegel 152 must be fixed with at least 2 anchors per strip element. Property-specific structural analyses may result in a higher number of anchors.

Special Risks (Hazard Note) / Safety Advice (Status as at Date of Publication)

If dust occurs, wear protective clothing (dust-proof) and a dust mask P1. Wear safety glasses when carrying out mechanical processing (sawing, drilling, grinding, milling) and when working overhead.

Disposal

Waste must be avoided by careful cutting and re-use. Nevertheless resulting low material residues to be disposed as per EWC 170604 (insulation material).
