Note

The application is generally carried out according to the rules of the craft for the installation of ceramic tiles and slabs on the façade according to DIN 18515-1. On the building project, the approved planning documents, in particular the joint and installation plan, must be adhered to.

The "allgemeine bauaufsichtliche Zulassung" (general building authority approval) / "allgemeine Bauartengenehmigung" (general type approval) of the ETICS or the product and the data sheets of the products must be observed.

Substrate Preparation

All substrates must be load-bearing, even, clean, dry and free from adhesion-reducing substances. The laying substrate must be level and plumb according to DIN 18202.
When using ceramic claddings with a side length ≥ 49 cm, the evenness of the surface of the hardened base coat must not exceed a pitch of 2 mm, related to the maximum edge length of the cladding to be applied.

Method of Application

Adhere ceramic cladding according to the combined method according to DIN EN 12004 (floating-buttering method). Apply the thin-bed adhesive to the substrate with a toothed trowel (toothing according to the substrate condition, the tile size and the condition of the tile back). In addition, apply the thin-bed adhesive in an evenly thin layer to the back of the cladding.

Only apply as much adhesive as can be laid with cladding before the skin forms. Press the ceramic cladding into the wet mortar bed with a light pushing movement.

  • Ceramic: 8 mm teeth
  • Split clinker: 10 mm teeth
  • Clinker brick slips: 10 mm teeth

The joints between the tiles or slabs are to be made with sufficient width depending on the format. As a rule, the joints are smoothed or scraped out to an even depth corresponding to the thickness of the tiles or slabs after the tiles or slabs have been laid and before the cladding adhesive has set. Loose mortar residues must be removed.

Consumption

approx. 6.0 kg/m2 depending on the selected toothing of the toothed trowel.
Guide values without bulk and shrinkage loss. Object-dependent or processing-related deviations must be taken into account.

Application Conditions

During the application and in the drying phase, the ambient and substrate temperatures must not be below +5 °C and above +30 °C. Do not apply in direct sunlight, strong wind, fog or high humidity. In this context, we refer to the leaflet "Verputzen, Wärmedämmen, Spachteln, Beschichten bei hohen und tiefen Temperaturen" from the Bundesverband Ausbau und Fassade (Federal Association for Finishing and Facades).

In case of unfavourable weather conditions, suitable measures must be taken to protect the processed facade surfaces.
of the processed façade surfaces.

Drying/Drying Time

approx. 2-3 days depending on temperature, wind and relative humidity. Allow sufficient drying time until subsequent grouting.

If necessary, protect the finished surface with suitable measures until sufficient weather resistance has been achieved

Tool Cleaning

Immediately after use with water.

Material Preparation

Pour the 25 kg powder of a bag slowly into approx. 7,0-7,5 l of tap water, while stirring intensively with a low-speed electric paddle or a compulsory mixer until a homogeneous, lump-free mix is achieved.
Allow material to mature for approx. 3-5 minutes and then mix thoroughly.

Special Risks (Hazard Note) / Safety Advice (Status as at Date of Publication)

Causes skin irritation. Causes serious eye damage. May cause respiratory irritation. May cause damage to organs through prolonged or repeated exposure. If medical advice is needed, have product container or label at hand. Keep out of reach of children. Do not breathe dusts or mists. Do not get in eyes, on skin, or on clothing. Use only outdoors or in a well-ventilated area. Wear protective gloves/ eye protection. IF IN EYES: Rinse cautiously with water for several minutes. Remove contact lenses, if present and easy to do. Continue rinsing. Immediately call a POISON CENTER/ doctor. Store locked up. Contains: Cement, portland, chemicals, quartz (respirable dust). Aqueous cement suspensions have an alkaline effect.

Additional advice: Wear long pants! Avoid prolonged skin contact with the plaster. Immediately clean affected skin thoroughly with water. The longer fresh plaster remains on your skin, the greater the risk of serious skin damage. It is essential to follow the manufacturer's occupational safety instructions during the application phase.
