850Suitable Substrates
Dry, solid and sound masonry wall and concrete with or without mineral plaster.
Substrate Preparation
For use as adhesive:
Masonry, concrete or mineral plasters must be dry, clean, sound and free from all material that may prevent good adhesion. Remove mortar burrs and damaged, flaking existing coatings and textured coatings as far as possible. Cut off cavities, then fill them flush with the surface.
Thoroughly clean highly absorbent, sanding or chalking surfaces down to the solid material, then prime with Sylitol-Konzentrat 111.
For use as reinforcement mortar:
Foam-silicate insulation boards: First grind off existing offsets at the joints of the foam-silicate insulation boards . Remove adhering grinding dust.
Phenolic boards: Avoid destruction of the surface.
Preparation of Material
Add the contents of a 25 kg bag of Capatect 850 gradually into 9 - 10 l of tap (potable) water and mix carefully with a low-speed electrical paddle (agitator) until the mixture is free of lumps.
Do not prepare more mortar than can be processed within two hours. Already hardened material can not be made applicable by adding water.
Method of Application
As adhesive mortar: Apply freshly prepared mortar Capatect 850 on the complete surface of the insulation board using a square-notched trowel or apply several strips of material along the sides and the center of the surface, covering at least 70 % of the surface. Adjust the amount of adhesive and the layer thickness according to substrate tolerances. Substrate irregularities up to ± 1 cm can be compensated.
Install insulation boards line by line from the bottom to the top with horizontal interlocking. Apply boards edge to edge with slight pressure without knocking. Avoid adhesive within the panel joints. Pay special attention to install the boards with flat and perpendicular surface.
Note: Capatect-CS-Klebe- und Armierungsmörtel 850 is not suitable for bonding Capatect-PF-Fassadendämmplatte 122.
As reinforcement layer: Place the corner protection profiles on window frames and edges, as well as the diagonal reinforcement fabrics on the corners of facade openings. Apply the Capatect 850reinforcement material in width of the fabric strips on the insulation boards and press in the Capatect-Gewebe 650, leaving about 10 cm of overlap.
Apply the reinforcement material wet on wet, ensuring a complete covering of the fabric. Total layer thickness: 5-7 mm.
Consumption
Bonding of thermal insulation boards: Approx. 4-5 kg/m2 on planar substrates
Reinforcement layer:Min. 5.5 kg/m2 at a minimum coat thickness of 5mm.
Reference value without account of spilling, loss or individual conditions on site. The exact rate of consumption is best established by a trial application.
Application Conditions
Processing temperature: +5 °C to + 30 °C during application and curing for material, substrate and ambient air.
Do not apply on sun heated substrates (direct sunlight), during strong wind, fog, rain, high relative humidity or imminent rain and frost.
Drying/Drying Time
Adhesive: Cured and ready for stress after 1-2 days. Start setting anchors after the adhesive bed has sufficiently cured - approx. after 1 day.
Reinforcement layer: Wait at least 48 hours before applying any further coatings (depending on temperature and relative humidity).
Tool Cleaning
Immediately after use with water.
Note
If necessary, cover the scaffoldings with tarpaulins to protect the surface from rain during the drying phase. Follow national or local regulations and specifications for application of mineral based mortars.
