190Substrate Preparation
Masonry, concrete or adherent existing coatings must be clean, dry, sound/stable, and free from all substances, that may prevent good adhesion, e.g. formwork oil residues. Remove mortar burrs and unsound, flaking/peeling existing paint and textured render/plaster coatings as far as possible. Cut off render/plaster with local separations having no sufficient adhesion to the substrate and repair to match the surrounding surface. Clean highly absorbent, sanding or chalking surfaces thoroughly up to the solid substrate level and prime with Sylitol Concentrate 111.Consumption
These consumption data are guiding values. The figures may vary according to substrate or application conditions. The exact rate of consumption is best established by a trial application.
Bonding of thermal insulating boards:
Approx. 4.0 kg/m2
Reinforcement layer:
Approx. 4.5 kg/m2 for polystyrene (EPS) foam boards
Approx. 5.0 kg/m2 for mineral fibre boards
Application Conditions
Processing temperature: + 5 °C to + 30 °C for material, substrate, water and ambient air during application and curing. Do not apply in direct sunlight, during strong wind, fog, high relative humidity, and imminent rain or frost.Drying/Drying Time
At 20 °C and 65% relative humidity the reinforcement layer is surface-dry after 24 hours. Thoroughly dry and ready for stress after 2 to 3 days. The material dries by hydration and physically, i.e. by evaporation of water. Lower temperatures and higher relative humidity extend the drying process. Dowels (if required) should be fastened after sufficient hardening of the adhesive, i.e. after approx. 1 day.Tool Cleaning
Immediately after use with water.Material Preparation
The material can be be prepared manually or with all common types of flow mixers. If manually applied the contents of a 25 kg bag of Capatect 190 is gradually poured into approx. 5 to 6 litres of tap water and stirred up with a suitable low-speed electrical paddle until the mixture is free of lumps. Leave to swell for approx. 10 minutes and stir up again.
Adjust to working consistency by adding a small amount of tap water, if necessary. Workability: approx. 2 to 2.5 hours, depending on weather conditions. Never mix slightly hardened or stiff material with water - such material is unusable.
Example for Machine Equipment
Example for Machine Equipment Flow mixer Berö Calypso 15 with standard portioning or mixing spindles.
Follow the guidelines of the manufacturer strictly.
Electric supply:
Each 400 V rotary current / 16 A (building current distributor with FI-protection switch).
Water supply:
3/4" hose with GEKA, minimum 2.5 bar water pressure is required for the running machine.
Flow of water:
For bonding: approx. 200 l/h, for reinforcement layer: approx. 250 l/h. Adjust the desired consistency by the fine-regulating valve in the water-fitting of the mixer. It varies from machine to machine.
Nozzle size:
Supply pump or proportioning and supply pump: ø 10 mm
Hoses:
Up to 3 hoses interior ø 35 mm, 13.3 m each / End hose, interior ø 25 mm, 10.0 m
Reinforcement Layer
Abrade surface irregularities of EPS boards butt joints (offset) and remove adherent dust. Secure all edges/corners and reveals of windows with edge guard profiles. Apply diagonal reinforcing fabric to the edges of openings and edge protection along window sides and building corners.✱ Apply the adhesive mortar onto the thermal insulating boards in the width of a reinforcing fabric sheet. Press Capatect Gewebe 650 very thoroughly into the freshly applied, still wet reinforcement layer with an overlap of approx. 10 cm. Apply a subsequent layer of Capatect 190 (wet-in-wet), to guarantee the complete embedding of fabrics. Provide for a total reinforcement layer thickness of approx. 3 to 4 mm.
✱Corners of the building:
If Capatect Corner/Edge Reinforcing Fabric is used, the fabric Capatect-Gewebe 650 has to be applied only up to the edge/outside corner.
If Capatect Edge Reinforcement (without Reinforcing Fabric Strip) is used, the fabric Capatect-Gewebe 650 has to overlap the edge/corner area for 10 cm.
Bonding of Insulation Boards
Apply adhesive material Capatect 190 thoroughly to the reverse side of the thermal insulating board by using the "Bead-Point-Method". A bead of material, approx. 5 cm wide, surrounds the board and 3 blobs (palm of the hand sized) are to be applied in the middle of the board.
Adjust the thickness of applied material to the tolerances of the substrate, such that 40% surface area is in contact with adhesive. Irregularities up to ± 1 cm can be equalised by this application method. Place the boards thoroughly from bottom to top touching each other (pressing together) and press on thoroughly. The rows of insulating boards must be applied 50% staggered (offset) one beneath the other. Avoid the penetration of adhesive into joints. Follow the alignment and vertical lines for installation.
Follow instructions for silo goods.
