Substrate Preparation

The substrate must be even, clean, solid, load-bearing and free from separating substances.
It must be matt damp, but not wet.
Protruding concrete or mortar burrs, contamination by soil, old non-load-bearing bitumen sealants or similar must be removed. Chamfer or break corners and edges. Close cavities > 5 mm with suitable mineral mortars.

Open joints of 2-5 mm must be closed by scratch filling with "Capatect Klebe- und Dichtungsmasse 114" or suitable mortars.

In case of slightly absorbent substrates, apply "Capatect Klebe- und Dichtungsmasse 114" as scratch filler to avoid blisters. Prime absorbent mineral substrates with "Capatect Klebe- und Dichtmasse 114" (diluted 1:1 with water).

Consumption

Waterproofing primer:
approx. 0.1-0.2 kg/m2 (diluted 1:1 with water)

Scratch coat:
approx. 1-2 kg/m2 (diluted with 5 % water)

W1-E Soil moisture and non-pressing water:
≥ 5.1 kg/m2 (4.3 mm wet), (min. 3 mm dry).

W2.1-E moderate impact of pressing water:
≥ 6.8 kg/m2 (5.7 mm wet), (min. 4 mm dry, two-layer with mesh insert).

W4-E Splash water at plinth area:
≥ 5.1 kg/m2 (4.3 mm wet), (min. 3 mm dry).

For the use as adhesive for insulation boards:
approx. 1.5-2.5 kg/m2 for spot bonding, other bonding methods increase consumption.

Consumption values may vary depending on the roughness of the substrate. If necessary, check by trial coating. Observe layer thickness allowances according to DIN 18533.

Application Conditions

During application and in the curing phase, the ambient and base coat temperatures must not be below +5 °C and above +30 °C.
Do not apply in direct sunlight, strong wind, fog or high humidity.

Apply additional layers only after the previously applied layers have sufficiently solidified. Protect dry coats from mechanical damage and UV radiation.

Drying/Drying Time

Depending on the substrate, temperature, humidity and layer thickness, the curing time is approx.
1-2 days.

These times are longer at lower temperatures and higher humidity.
The material must be sufficiently dry before carrying out subsequent work.

Tool Cleaning

Tools can be cleaned with water when fresh.
When dry, use solvent-based thinner.

Application

"Capatect Perimeterdämmplatten" are to be bonded to the vertical building waterproofing with "Capatect Klebe- und Dichtungsmasse 114" for thermal insulation in the area in contact with the ground (perimeter).
The bonding method is based on the existing water exposure class. The "Capatect Perimeterdämmplatten" must be laid tightly butted in a bond and lie flat on the substrate in the wall area. Cross joints must be avoided.

For water exposure class W2.1-E according to DIN 18533, the "Capatect XPS-Perimeterdämmplatten" must be bonded over the entire surface.

For the respective bonding methods depending on the water exposure class, refer to the insulation approval or the installation instructions of the insulation manufacturer for the existing application.

Note:
The application of "Capatect Klebe- und Dichtungsmasse 114" as adhesive in the wall base area is not recommended, as level differences or misalignments in the bonded insulation boards are to be expected, especially with high adhesive layer thicknesses.

Precondition by Customers

A prerequisite for the installation of perimeter insulation is a building waterproofing system on site that meets the prevailing requirements.

The current regulations and available test certificates must be observed during planning and execution.
