Field of Application
Bitumen adhesive for bonding Capatect-Perimeterdämmplatten 115 or 113 (thermal insulation boards for perimeter in soil) on water proofing layers - also bituminous - and other sound/stable substrates within the Capatect thermal insulation systems.
Also suitable for water proofing on vertical structural elements in soil as a thick coating according to DIN 18 195.

The substrate must be even, clean, firm, sound/stable and free from all substances that may prevent good adhesion. The substrate may be slightly (flat) moist, but not wet.
- Allow new renders/plasters to dry and cure for min. 2 – 4 weeks before applying the product.
- Remove all projecting concrete or mortar burrs, soiling caused by earth, existing unsound bituminous paint coats, sealants, etc.
- Open joints leeks of 2 to 5 mm are to be filled with Capatect 114 as scratch filler or using suitable render/plaster.
- Form fillets/grooves in corners with cement mortar (group/class III) using suitable tools.
- A scratch filler application is essential on concrete, filling all pores.
- Avoid bubbling caused by deep pores or local separations (voids).
- A scratch filler application of Capatect 114 can be reworked/coated after a waiting time of approx. 3 hours.
- A minimum of 2 dam watertight blankets (2 operations) is necessary.
- The first coat of Capatect 114 can be recoated after approx. 1 to 2 days, depending on temperature on site.
- Cavities and joints greater than 5 mm must always be filled with suitable mortar.

Consumption values vary depending on substrate roughness. Determine the exact amount of material required by coating a test area on site.
Processing temperature: + 5 °C to 30 °C during application and curing for product, substrate and ambient air. Do not apply on sun-heated or frozen surfaces, during strong wind, fog, frost, high relative humidity or driving rain.
Fully cured after approx. 2 days, depending on substrate, temperature, relative humidity and layer thickness. Lower temperatures and higher humidity extend the curing time.
Immediately after use with water. Hardened product should be removed with a solvent-based diluent.
Material PreparationStir up the liquid component A with a low-speed agitator. Add the powder component B slowly (in small quantities) while thoroughly mixing into the liquid component. Stir until the mixture is absolutely homogeneous and free of lumps.
Provide for exact mixing ratio (A : B = 22 : 8 parts by weight), when partial quantities are mixed.
Workability/pot life of mixed product: approx. 1.5 hours at 20 °C. Higher temperatures shorten and lower temperatures extend the workability.
ApplicationApplication as adhesive
Apply the thoroughly mixed material with a square-notched trowel onto the thermal insulation boards.
For aplication under soil apply at least 6 blobs of adhesive material homogeneously onto the boards.
Press the insulation boards onto the wall surface with slight lateral movement to ensure proper bonding. Remove all adhesive passing out of the sides with a scraper.
Place the boards thoroughly touching each other tightly. The rows of insulation boards must be thoroughly applied with an offset (50% staggered one beneath the other) and exact butt joints.
Precondition by CustomersNote about structural condition
An essential postulate prior to the application of any perimeter insulation is an existing, sound waterproof sealing (provided by the customer) in accordance with existing moisture loads. This waterproofing must comply with DIN 18 195 - or similar national regulations - concerning the degrees of load »rising damp / soil moisture«, »non-pressing water«, and »pressing water«. In case of »stagnating water« or »continuously pressing water« a drainage as per DIN 4095 is essential. According to DIN 18 195 the vertical water proofing layer is to be applied up to approx. 15 - 30 cm above the ground level.
Suitable Substrates Above Ground LevelAll mineral substrates, e.g. masonry of concrete blocks, vertical coring bricks, sand-lime bricks, aerated lightweight bricks, concrete, autoclaved aerated concrete/cellular concrete, new mineral renders/plasters, as well as reinforcement layers of ETICS, rendering of mortar groups PII, P III to DIN 18 550-1 and other existing stable mineral renders/plasters and paint coatings.
Construction SealingIn cases of waterproofing against temporarily accumulating leakage water and pressing water a coat of Capatect-Klebe- und Dichtungsmasse 114 is used in combination with Capatect Gewebe 650/110 (reinforcing glasfiber fabric, centered embeded).
Apply in 2 layers with a curing time of 24 hours between coats.
DIN 18 195 or adequate national regulations must be followed.
Protective Filler Application
The reinforcing layer of Capatect ETICS✱ may be applied onto the Capatect Perimeterdämmplatten 115 (thermal insulation boards for the perimeter) marginally under the soil, if desired.
Allow the reinforcing layer on this subterranean surface to harden thoroughly and apply adhesive Capatect-Klebe-und Dichtungsmasse 114 by brush or trowel up to the soil surface.
The upper end of this protective sealing layer should lie beneath the soil surface in the layer of filter gravel.
According to DIN 18 195: normally 300 mm above ground level, minimum 150 mm.

Bonding of Insulation Boards
Capatect-Perimeterdämmplatten 115 and 113 are designed for thermal insulation of buildings surfaces under soil (perimeter insulation; thickness of 50 mm and more):
Glue Capatect Perimeterdämmplatten 115 or 113 with Capatect-Klebe und Dichtungsmasse 114 (adhesive and sealing compound) onto the vertical sealing (water proofing layer) of the building.
Note: For visible plinth (thickness of 20 mm and more) use mineral based adhesives. The use of Capatect-Klebe und Dichtungsmasse 114 for ETICS above ground areas is not suggested, in order to avoid height differences or dislocation motion (especially at high layer thickness).
In Germany: Follow the instructions of German technical approval no. Z-23.33-1257 for the application of thermal insulation on under soil (perimeter insulation).

Powder Component (Dry Mortar Premix): This mineral powder has an alkaline reaction and should only be used by trained operatives: Causes skin irritation. Causes serious eye damage. Avoid release to the environment. Use personal protective equipment as required. IF ON SKIN: Wash with plenty of soap and water. IF IN EYES: Rinse cautiously with water for several minutes. Remove contact lenses, if present and easy to do. Continue rinsing.

Keep out of reach of children. In case of contact with eyes or skin, rinse immediately with plenty of water. Do not empty into drains, water courses or onto the ground.

DisposalMaterials and all related packaging must be disposed of in a safe way in accordance with the full requirements of the local authorities. Particular attention should be made to removing wastage from site in compliance with standard construction site procedures.
Liquid Component: Only completely emptied packaging must be given for recycling. Dispose liquid residues as waste of dilutable adhesives. Dispose hardened material as bituminous mixtures or mixed construction and demolition waste.
Powder Component (Dry Mortar Premix): Only completely emptied packaging must be given for recycling. Dispose hardened material as mixed construction and demolition waste.
