    • Duparol-W: 12.5 litres

    Colours

    White.

Apply Duparol-W only in white or tinted in pastel shades. Duparol colour shades are only available ready tinted ex factory. For intensive colours (luminosity/lightness index (LI) < 70) apply priming coats of Dupa-Haftgrund or CapaGrund Universal, tinted in a matching shade. Check tinted paint before applying in order to avoid colour differences. Always use paint of same batch, when applying on seamless surfaces.
Touching up intensively/lushly coloured surfaces can lead to colour deviation. If necessary, the repair paint must be readjusted (repeated shading). Brilliant, intensive colours may have a lower opacity (hiding/covering power). It is therefore recommended to apply a first coat in a similar hiding pastel shade, based on white. A second finishing coat may be necessary.

Colour Resistance according to BFS Data Sheet No. 26:

    Suitable Substrates

The substrate must be sound/stable, dry, clean, and free from all substances that may prevent good adhesion. In Germany: Follow VOB, part C, DIN 18363, section 3.

    Substrate Preparation

    Exterior Surfaces

Exterior Renders in Mortar Groups/Classes PII (Lime-Cement Mortars) and PIII (Cement Mortars) / Minimum Compressive Strength according to DIN EN 998-1: 1.5 N/mm2:
New renders must be left untreated for a sufficiently long holding time, usually 2 weeks at 20 °C and 65 % relative humidity. Adverse weather conditions, influenced e.g. by wind or rain, extend the curing process and correspondingly longer holding times must be respected.
Existing Renders: Repairs must have adequate time to cure and dry. Highly porous, absorbent, slightly sanding renders: Apply one priming coat of OptiGrund. Prime highly sanding, chalking renders with Dupa-grund. Coat mineral lightweight renders of mortar group PII with Sylitol or AmphiSilan products.

    Concrete:

Concrete surfaces with dirt deposits or fines/sintered layer must be cleaned mechanically or with high-pressure jet, in compliance with the regulations. Apply one priming coat of CapaGrund Universal on slightly absorbent or smooth surfaces. Apply one priming coat of OptiGrund on highly porous, slightly sanding or absorbent surfaces. Prime chalking surfaces with Dupa-grund.

Fibre Cement Boards/Panels with and without Asbestos Fibres (Am. Fibers):
In Germany: Follow BFS Data Sheet No. 14. Follow TRGS 519 for coating boards containing asbestos fibres. Apply the priming coat according to our Technical Information No. 650. Treat free standing boards on all sides and edges. Prime new, highly alkaline fibre cement boards with Disbon 481 EP-Uniprimer to avoid lime efflorescence.

    Cement-Bound Wood Chipboards (Particle Boards):
Due to the high alkalinity of cement-bound chipboards (particle boards) one priming coat of Disbon 481 EP-Uniprimer must be applied, to prevent the forming of calcareous efflorescence.

    Facing Brickwork:
Only absorbent clinker bricks of frost resistant quality and free of foreign inclusions are suitable for exterior coatings. Masonry must be dry and free of salts/salty efflorescence, jointing must be free of cracks. Apply one priming coat of Dupa-grund.

    Sound/Stable Synthetic Resin-Bound (Organic) Renders:
Clean existing renders by suitable means. Allow wet cleaned surfaces to dry thoroughly before any further treatment. Apply one priming coat of CapaGrund Universal. Coat new renders without pre-treatment.

Sound/Stable Coatings of Enamel/Varnish or Emulsion Paint:
Roughen/sand glossy surfaces and enamel coatings. Clean existing soiled, chalking paint coats by high-pressure water jet, in compliance with the regulations. Apply one priming coat of CapaGrund Universal. Prime with Dupa-grund, when other cleaning methods are used (washing, wire brushing, hosing with water).

Existing Stable Silicate Paints and Renders:
Coat with products of the Sylitol® or AmphiSilan line.

    Unstable Mineral Coatings:
Remove the coating completely by sanding/brushing/scraping off, by use of high-pressure water jet in compliance with the regulations, or by other suitable means. Allow wet cleaned surfaces to dry thoroughly before any further treatment. Prime with Dupa-grund.

Unstable Coatings of Enamel/Varnish, Emulsion Paint or Synthetic Resin-Bound (Organic) Render:
Remove completely by suitable means, e.g. mechanically or via paint stripper, followed by surface cleaning with a high-pressure steam jet, in compliance with the regulations. Apply one priming coat of CapaGrund Universal on slightly absorbent or smooth surfaces. Apply one priming coat of Dupa-grund on chalking, sanding, absorbent surfaces.

Surfaces Contaminated by Industrial Gases (Factory Fumes) or Soot:
Clean by suitable means, mechanically or using high-pressure steam jet or by wet-blasting, in compliance with the regulations. Allow wet cleaned surfaces to dry thoroughly and prime according to substrate requirements.

    Algae or Fungi-Infested Surfaces:
Remove all fungal (fungi/mildew/mould) or algal attack with a high-pressure water jet, in compliance with the regulations. Then use Capatox or FungiGrund and allow to dry well. One finishing coat of Duparol-W is advisable to prevent reinfestation of the coating.

    Cracks in Renders or Concrete:
Coat with the crack covering system Cap-elast.

    Unpainted Sandlime Brickwork:
Coat with products of the Sylitol® or AmphiSilan line.

    Surfaces with Salty Efflorescence:
Remove salty efflorescence thoroughly by dry wire brushing and prime with Dupa-grund. Coating of such surfaces must be considered a risk for which we cannot accept responsibility, since even after the most thorough treatment the efflorescence may recur.

    Defects:
Repair small defects with Caparol Fassaden-Feinspachtel. Deeper defects up to 20 mm are preferably to be repaired with Histolith Renovierspachtel. Prime fillings (repair patches).

    Interior Surfaces:
Apply the solvent-based (water-free), faintly odourous, fast-drying renovation paint Dupa-inn.

    Method of Application

Apply with solvent resistant paint brushes or rollers.

    Surface Coating System

White and Bright Colour Shades with a Luminosity/Lightness Index (LI) above 70:
Apply one priming or intermediate coat of undiluted Duparol or Duparol-W.
Apply one finishing coat of undiluted Duparol or Duparol-W.

Colour Shades with a Luminosity/Lightness Index (LI) below 70:
Apply one priming or intermediate coat of Dupa-Haftgrund (tinted ex factory), diluted to a max. of 10 % with Dupa-grund or use CapaGrund Universal, tinted to match the finishing coat in shade. Apply one finishing coat of undiluted Duparol.

    Consumption

Duparol/Duparol-W: Approx. 200 ml/m2 per coat on smooth substrates. On roughly textured surfaces correspondingly more. Determine the exact amount of material required by coating a test area on site.

    Application Conditions

Lower Temperature Limit for Application and Drying:
Duparol and Duparol-W are applicable even in frosty condition, provided the substrate is dry and ice-free.

    Drying/Drying Time

At +20 °C and 65 % relative humidity recoatable after 12 hours. Lower temperatures and higher humidity extend the drying time.

    Note

Duparol, Duparol-W and Dupa-Haftgrund are incompatible with other paint products and among themselves.

To avoid lapping, the products should be applied wet-on-wet and without interruption.
Do not use on horizontal surfaces exposed to rain or moisture (water loads). While applying Duparol and Duparol-W in dark shades (LI below 70), the finishing coat can show drying spots, due to the reversible solubility of both products.
Hence, before applying an additional finishing coat of Duparol or Duparol-W, apply one intermediate coat of Dupa-Haftgrund or CapaGrund Universal, matching the finishing coat in shade.

Mechanical stress (scratching) on matt facade paints in dark shades may produce noticeable bright-toned stripes (no writing resistance).
Facades in special climatic conditions (high degree of moisture) or subjected to a higher influence of atmospheric exposure: It is recommended to apply our special product Duparol-W.
Duparol-W contains special algicidal and fungicidal film protection agents to counteract the forming of organic growth (algae & fungi/mildew/mould) on the coating film. The depot of agents offers a prolonged protection, but the algicidal & fungicidal effect is limited by the special facade conditions on site, e.g. intensity of organic attack/infestation and moisture. A durable protection cannot be guaranteed.
Do not use Duparol or Duparol-W for coating EPS boards/panels or ETICS/EWI systems with EPS boards.

Touching up surfaces is depending on many parameters and may be visible after drying.
(In Germany: See BFS Data Sheet No. 25)
