    Suitable Substrates

The substrate must be sound/stable, dry, clean, and free from all substances that may prevent good adhesion. In Germany: Follow VOB, part C, DIN 18 363, section 3.

    Substrate Preparation

Interior Plaster: Mortar Group/Class PII (Lime-Cement Mortar), Class PIII (Cement Mortar) / Minimum Compressive Strength according to DIN EN 998-1: 2 N/mm2:
Solid plasters with normal absorbency require no preliminary treatment. Prime highly porous, sanding or absorbent plaster with OptiGrund or CapaSol.

Gypsum and Ready-Mixed Gypsum Plasters of Mortar Group PIV / Minimum Compressive Strength according to DIN EN 13279: 2 N/mm2:
Prime with Caparol-Haftgrund. Sand/grind off sintered skin, remove dust and prime with Caparol-Tiefgrund TB.

    Gypsum Building Boards / Wallboards:
Prime absorbent boards with OptiGrund or Caparol-Tiefgrund TB. Prime highly compact, smooth boards with Caparol-Haftgrund to promote bonding.

    Gypsum Plasterboards (Sandwich-Type Plaster Boards):
Sand off filling (mortar) burrs. Soft gypsum areas (repairs) must be primed and strengthened with Caparol-Tiefgrund TB. Apply one priming coat of Caparol-Haftgrund, OptiGrund or CapaSol. Boards containing water-soluble, discolouring substances that leave marks must be primed with Caparol AquaSperrgrund. In Germany: Follow BFS Data Sheet No. 12.

    Concrete:
Remove remnants of release agents (formwork oil residues) and loose chalking or sanding material.

    AAC / Cellular Concrete:
Prime autoclaved aerated concrete with a 1:3 mixture of Capaplex and tap (potable) water.

Facing Brickwork or Fair-Faced Sand-Lime Brick Masonry:
    No preliminary treatment required.

    Sound/Stable Existing Coatings:
Matt, slightly absorbent coatings may be treated without a preliminary preparation. Roughen glossy/shiny surfaces and enamel coatings. Prime with Caparol-Haftgrund.

    Unstable Existing Coatings:
Completely remove unstable coatings of enamel/varnish, emulsion paint or synthetic (organic) plaster. Prime slightly absorbent, smooth surfaces with Caparol-Haftgrund. Prime highly porous, sanding or absorbent substrates with OptiGrund or CapaSol. Remove unstable coatings of mineral paint by mechanical means and remove dust. Prime with Caparol-Tiefgrund TB.

    Coats of Glue-Bound Distemper:
Wash off the coating to the stable substrate and prime with Caparol-Tiefgrund TB.

Unpainted Woodchip/Ingrain Wallpapers, Relief or Embossed Wallpapers (made of Paper):
    No preliminary treatment required.

    Non-Adherent Wallpapers:
Remove the wallpapers completely and wash off all residues of wallpaper paste/glue and waste paper. Prime the substrate with Caparol-Tiefgrund TB.

Surfaces Stained by Nicotine, Water, Soot or Fat/Grease:
Wash off nicotine, soot or fat/grease stains with water adding a fat-dissolving household detergent and allow the surface to dry well. Remove dried-up water stains by dry brush cleaning. Then apply an insulating coat of Caparol AquaSperrgrund.

    Wood and Derived Timber Products:
Coat with water-dilutable (waterborne), ecologically compatible Capacryl acrylic enamels or with Capacryl PU enamels.

    Small Defects:
After having completed the necessary preparations, repair with filler Caparol Akkordspachtel in accordance with processing specification, and if necessary, prime subsequently.

    Method of Application

Apply the product by paint brush or roller.
Clean tools/working equipment immediately after use with water.

    Surface Coating System

Preparatory Treatment: Remove covering of mould/mildew by wet cleaning. Then use Capatox or FungiGrund and allow to dry well. Follow official/local regulations and laws, as e.g. Ordinance on Biological Agents and Ordinance on Hazardous Substances.

First or Intermediate Coat: Indeko-W, diluted to a max. of 10 % with tap (potable) water.

Finishing Coat: Indeko-W, diluted to a max. of 5 % with tap water.

    Consumption

Approx. 150 ml/m2 per coat on smooth substrates. On roughly textured surfaces correspondingly more. Determine the exact amount of material required by coating a test area on site.
The coating thickness of applied product significantly influences the fungicidal and bactericidal long-term effect, hence always apply Indeko-W evenly and liberally. The consumption value specified above is a minimum value and should not be underrun.

    Application Conditions

Lower Temperature Limit for Application and Drying:
+5 °C for product, substrate and ambient air.

    Drying/Drying Time

At +20 °C and 65 % relative humidity surface-dry and recoatable after 4-6 hours. Completely dry (cured) and ready for stress after approx. 3 days. Lower temperatures and higher humidity extend the drying time.

    Note

Solvent-containing primers must not be applied in rooms where food is stored or produced. For these areas use OptiGrund for priming coat.
Ensure good ventilation during use and drying of Indeko-W, for at least 3 days before any further use.
If exposed to aqueous solutions of heavy metal salts, e.g. copper salts, brownish discolouration will occur. Please request for special advice. When using Caparol-Tiefgrund TB in interiors, a typical solvent odour is released, hence proper ventilation must be provided during the application. Use non-aromatic, low-odour AmphiSilanPutzfestiger in sensitive areas. Touching up surfaces is depending on many parameters and may be visible after drying. (In Germany: See BFS Data Sheet No. 25)

Indeko-W contains a preservative against deterioration in the coating film due to fungal (fungi/mildew/mould) attack. The depot of agents offers a prolonged protection, but the fungicidal effect is limited by the special conditions on site, e.g. intensity of fungal attack and moisture. A durable protection cannot always be guaranteed by coats of paint.

    Recoatability:
Indeko-W is only recoatable with emulsion or polymer resin paints or plasters. Oil paints or oil-alkyd resin paints are unsuitable, since the mould growth inhibiting agent will prevent the drying process.

    German Certificates
