Dupafix multi

Solvent-based, special coating for interior use, free of aromatic hydrocarbons. Suitable for adverse substrate conditions in the industrial sector. Ready-for-use paint for efficient, large-scale spray or roller application. Fast-drying, covering, matt.

  • LV Texte

    Field of Application

Anhydrous, fast-drying special coating with a high opacity. Particularly suitable for efficient renovation of most types of substrates (walls and ceilings), found in the industrial sector. Suitable for coating surfaces contaminated with soot and nicotine stains or dried-up water spots. Compatible with polystyrene. Also suitable for efficient airless spray and roller application. Do not apply e.g. in living quarters, hotels, offices or hospitals.

    Material Properties

    • Scrub-resistant.
    • Consistency is adjusted for roller and spray application.
    • Easy to apply, efficient.
    • Good adhesion.
    • Free of aromatic hydrocarbons.
    • Excellent opacity/hiding power (in most cases one liberally applied coat is sufficient).
    • Low tension.
    • Diffusion-capable.
    • Frost-resistant.

    Material Base / Vehicle

    Polymer resin

    Suitable Substrates

The substrate must be sound/stable, dry, clean, and free from all substances that may prevent good adhesion. In Germany: Follow VOB, part C, DIN 18363, section 3 and details given in corresponding BFS Data Sheets.

Suitable for coil coating sheet metal and synthetic materials such as rigid/unplasticized PVC or polystyrene, solid, slightly absorbent mineral plasters, aluminium, zinc (galvanised surfaces), corrosion protected iron, etc.

Sound/stable, matt existing paint coatings can be coated without any pre-treatment.

Apply one priming coat of Caparol-Tiefgrund TB on sanding, highly absorbent substrates and on soft, sandes/grinded gypsum plasters. When using Caparol-Tiefgrund TB in interiors, a typical solvent odour is released, hence proper ventilation must be provided during application and drying. Do not apply Dupafix multi in sensitive/delicate areas.

Wash off stains of nicotine, root or fat/grease with water, adding a fat-dissolving household detergent. Allow to dry well. Clean dried-up water spots by dry brushing-off.

    Method of Application

Apply with solvent-resistant paint brush and roller or airless equipment.
    Airless Application: Spray angle: 40° - 50°; Nozzle size: 0.021”–0.025";
    Spray pressure: 150 - 180 bar

    Surface Coating System

Finishing coat: One even, liberally applied coat of Dupafix multi (undiluted).
On substrates of contrasting colours: One previously applied priming coat of Dupafix multi.

    Consumption

Roller application: Approx. 140 - 160 g/m2 per coat on smooth substrates.
Airless spray application: Approx. 180 - 210 g/m2 per coat on smooth substrates.
    On roughly textured surfaces correspon
dingly more. Determine the exact amount of material required by coating a test area on site.

    Application Conditions

Lower Temperature Limit for Application and Drying:
Applicable in frosty weather, provided that the substrate is dry and ice-free. For proper application, even at low temperatures, the material temperature must remain at a min. of +10 °C.

    Drying/Drying Time

At +20 °C and 65 % relative humidity surface-dry and recoatable after 4- 6 hours. Completely dry and ready for stress after approx. 3 days. Lower temperatures and higher humidity extend the drying time.

    Tool Cleaning

Clean tools/equipment immediately after use with white spirit or brush cleaner.

    Note

Solvent-based paint materials cannot be used in rooms where food is stored. For this purpose we recommend Caparol AquaSperrgrund in combination with a solvent-free finishing coat, e.g. with Indeko-plus. Do not apply Dupafix multi on surfaces subjected to water vapour, as is customary e.g. in bakeries and butcheries. Substrate temperature of surfaces with risk of forming condensed water must be clearly above the dew point temperature.

To avoid lapping, the material should be applied wet-on-wet and without interruption. Due to the special composition a check for adhesion by crosshatch adhesion test is not significant. Please check using cross cut test or adhesive tape test. Touching up surfaces is depending on many parameters and may be visible after drying. (In Germany: See BFS Data Sheet No. 25)

Compatibility with other Coating Materials: Do not mix with other coating materials.

Special Risks (Hazard Note) / Safety Advice (Status as at Date of Publication)

Flammable liquid and vapour. Repeated exposure may cause skin dryness or cracking. Keep out of reach of children. Keep away from heat/sparks/open flames/hot surfaces. – No smoking. Do not breathe vapours/spray. Avoid release to the environment. Use personal protective equipment as required. IF ON SKIN: Wash with plenty of soap and water. IF SWALLOWED: Rinse mouth. Do NOT induce vomiting.

    Disposal

Materials and all related packaging must be disposed of in a safe way in accordance with the full requirements of the local authorities. Particular attention should be made to removing wastage from site in compliance with standard construction site procedures.
In Germany: Only completely empty containers should be handed in for recycling. Dispose containers with residues of liquid product via waste collection point accepting old paints and enamels. Dispose dried/hardened product residues as construction site/demolition/municipal or domestic waste.
