Substrate Preparation

Mask window sills and attachments.
Carefully cover glass, ceramics, clinker brick, natural stone, painted, glazed and anodised surfaces, as well as surfaces to be protected.
The legal requirements, e.g. from the Gefahrstoffverordnung (Hazardous Substances Ordinance - GefStoffV), the Biostoffverordnung (Biological Substances Ordinance - BioStoffV), etc., as well as the requirements of the municipalities/sewage associations must be observed.

Plant and sucking pollen from climbing plants: Completely remove the root system down to ground level if possible to avoid damage to the base. Remove foliage and sucking pollen mechanically.

Flame treatment of residual particles: Only use on solid, mineral substrates, observe fire protection.

Interior surfaces: Remove mould by wet cleaning with water.

Exterior surfaces: Remove mould, algae and fungal growth by wet blasting with water.

Preparation of Material

The material is ready for use. Stir thoroughly before application.

Method of Application

Tools: facade brush, facade paintbrush or flat paintbrush
Do not mix the material with other products.

The surfaces to be treated must be clean and dry. Work from the bottom up so that the surfaces remain wet for a long time.
Preferably use a brush to massage the material onto the surface. The surface must be thoroughly wetted. Limited use by roller is possible, but dripping and splashing are possible. Do not rinse with water.
Allow the surface to dry thoroughly.

Consumption

Approx. 50–150 ml/m2 depending on the roughness and absorbency of the substrate.

Application Conditions

During the application and in the drying phase, the ambient and substrate temperatures must not be below +5 °C and above +30 °C.
Do not apply in direct sunlight, strong wind, fog or high humidity. Please refer to the leaflet "Verputzen, Wärmedämmen, Spachteln, Beschichten bei hohen und tiefen Temperaturen" (Rendering, Thermal Insulation, Filling, Coating at High and Low Temperatures) from the Bundesverband Ausbau und Fassade (Federal Association for Finishing and Façades).

In unfavourable weather conditions, take suitable measures to protect the facade surfaces being treated.

Waiting Time

The waiting time for re-coating depends, among other things, on the weather conditions and the thickness of the application. The information is based on 20 °C and 65% relative humidity and is intended as a guide only.

  • Surface dry after approx. 4 hours
  • Reaction time of at least 10 hours before further re-coating

Subsequent coatings should have a high resistance to premature attack by micro-organisms.

Tool Cleaning

Rinse with water immediately after use in accordance with legal regulations.

Note

For expert advice on how to remove mould indoors, please refer to the "Leitfaden zur Vorbeugung, Erfassung und Sanierung von Schimmelbefall in Gebäuden" (‘Guidelines for the prevention, detection and remediation of mould in buildings’) issued by the Umweltbundesamt (German Environment Agency), which can be downloaded from: www.umweltbundesamt.de/publikationen.

Statement regarding Ecology

Cleaned surfaces that have been treated with Capatox are not washed according to the processing instructions, so that, as a rule, no waste water is produced. If waste water containing Capatox is produced when cleaning tools, it can be discharged into biological sewage treatment plants via the sewage system because cationic surfactants are inactivated and biologically degraded by the anionic surfactants contained in washing and cleaning agents. Capatox must not be discharged into surface water (including storm sewers) and must not enter the groundwater. The active substance is toxic to cold-blooded animals (fish).

When used on façades, protect plants and shrubs in the immediate vicinity of the façade and the soil by covering them. Damage to plants will occur if they are sprayed directly with the solution. If small quantities (splashes) of Capatox solution enter the soil, the active ingredient remains in the top layer of soil due to the cationic surfactant properties and becomes ineffective. No lasting damage to the soil or groundwater is to be expected.

Sanitary Precautions

Capatox is a special cleaning agent for interior and exterior surfaces.
It contains a cationic surfactant called alkyldimethylbenzylammonium chloride.
The active ingredient is also used as a cationic soap in the food industry for surface disinfection in dairies, breweries and meat processing plants, as well as in hospitals, greenhouses and small swimming pools.
In the cosmetics industry, the active ingredient is approved for use in deodorants and for the preservation of cosmetic products. In the pharmaceutical industry, it can be used to preserve eye drops and injection preparations. In skin disinfection, it is a component of skin wound cleaners, hand disinfectants, etc. and is used, for example, in hand washing detergents in the hospital sector or in cotton-wound hand towels. The widespread use of the active ingredient contained in Capatox in food processing plants, in human medicine and hygiene shows that Capatox can be used safely on the interior and exterior surfaces of buildings when professionally applied.
