Field of Application
AmphiSilan-Putzfestiger is used for solidifying priming coats on critical substrates, e.g. chalking or highly absorbent render/plaster or existing paint coatings, sandpapered gypsum surfaces, gypsum plasterboards or substrates from which distemper paints has been washed off.
Ideally suited for solidifying priming coats on polystyrene-insulated ETICS/EWI systems or on polystyrene containing insulating plasters/renders.
- Good penetration to the substrate.
- Allows diffusion and sorption.

Substrate PreparationThe substrates must be sound/stable, dry, clean, and free from all substances that may prevent good adhesion. In Germany: Follow VOB, part C, DIN 18 363, section 3.
Apply one or two coats of AmphiSilan-Putzfestiger (depending on substrate requirements), wet-on-wet by brush or with suitable spraying equipment. Prime poorly or unevenly absorbent substrates, which need to be solidified, with AmphiSilan-Putzfestiger, thinned to a max. of 10 % with Caparol AF-Verdünner. The primer must not form a continuous, glossy film on the surface.
Allow primed substrates to dry thoroughly for at least 12 hours at 20 °C. If temperatures are low, this period extends correspondingly and might be several days.
ThinningThin exclusively with Caparol AF-Verdünner, if required.
ConsumptionApprox. 150 – 300 ml/m2, depending on the condition and absorbency of the substrate.
Determine the exact amount of material required by coating a test area on site.
Application ConditionsLower Temperature Limit for Application and Drying:
Can be applied in frost as well, if the substrate is dry and ice free.
Drying/Drying TimeAt +20 °C and 65 % relative humidity recoatable after a minimum waiting time of 12 hours.
Lower temperatures extend the drying time up to several days.
ToolsThe primer should preferably be brushed intensively into the substrate with solvent resistant tools. Application by suitable spraying equipment is also possible. Pneumatic air guns must not be used to avoid the forming of explosive mixtures.
Airless ApplicationSpray angle: 60°
Spray gun pressure: 50 - 60 bar
Clean tools immediately after use with white spirit.
Special Risks (Hazard Note) / Safety Advice (Status as at Date of Publication)Flammable liquid and vapour. May be fatal if swallowed and enters airways.R epeated exposure may cause skin dryness or cracking. Keep out of reach of children. Keep away from open flames/hot surfaces. - No smoking. Do not breathe vapours/spray. Do not get in eyes, on skin, or on clothing. Use only outdoors or in a well-ventilated area. Avoid release to the environment. IF SWALLOWED: rinse mouth. Do NOT induce vomiting. Store in a well-ventilated place. Keep container tightly closed.
DisposalMaterials and all related packaging must be disposed of in a safe way in accordance with the full
requirements of the local authorities. Particular attention should be made to removing wastage from
site in compliance with standard construction site procedures.
In Germany: Only completely empty containers should be handed in for recycling. Dispose containers
with residues of liquid product via waste collection point accepting old paints and enamels. Dispose
dried/hardened product residues as construction site/demolition/municipal or domestic waste.
CompatibilityAmphiSilan-Putzfestiger must not be mixed or thinned with other materials.
