Field of Application
Transparent silicone resin-based primer
OptiSilan TiefGrund is especially deep penetrating and hydrophobic due to the particularly fine-particle polysiloxane-hydrosol binder.
Consolidating and egalising on coarsely porous, absorbent, slightly sanding renders, masonry and concrete surfaces, gypsum boards (GK boards), gypsum plasters, gypsum filler and weakly bonded dispersion filler. Subsequently coatable with dispersion, silicone resin and polymer resin paints.
Material Properties
- Deep penetrating effect due to polysiloxane hydrosol
- Hydrophobic
- Very good strengthening
- Water-dilutable

Suitable Substrates
The substrates must be free from dirt, separating substances and dry. Observe VOB, Part C, DIN 18363, Para. 3. For substrate pre-treatment, please also observe our Technical Information No. 650 "Substrates and their pre-treatment".Substrate Preparation
Note Q2/Q3 Filling / thin gypsum layers < 0.5mm
When using gypsum-containing, hydraulically setting levelling compounds in quality level Q2/Q3, a transparent, water-based primer is recommended. For this, we refer to the "Maler&Lackierer leaflet No. 2 -9/2020" "Adhesion problems of coatings on filled gypsum (cardboard) boards" of the Bundesverband Farbe, Gestaltung, Bautenschutz and the Bundesausschuss Farbe und Sachwertschutz. As an alternative to gypsum-based Q3 filling, filling with pasty filling compounds has proven successful.
Method of Application
With a brush, roller or brush, the full, consolidating effect is achieved through saturated application and working in.
Airless application:
Spray angle: 60°
Nozzle: 0.029
Spray pressure: 50 bar
Surface Coating System
On normally absorbent substrates apply once undiluted. On highly absorbent surfaces apply once undiluted, but saturating. If necessary, dilute with 1 part water and apply wet-on-wet with a brush, paint brush or paintbrush until the substrate is fully saturated. The primer must not form a closed, glossy film.Consumption
Depending on absorbency and condition of the substrate approx. 150-250 ml/m2.
Determine exact consumption by trial coating.
Application Conditions
Material, circulating air and substrate temperature: Min. +5 °C to max. +30 °C.Drying/Drying Time
At +20 °C and 65 % relative humidity, recoatable after approx. 12 hours. At lower temperatures, allow for correspondingly longer drying times.Tool Cleaning
Clean tools with water immediately after use.Note
OptiSilan TiefGrund is not suitable for horizontal surfaces exposed to water.Special Risks (Hazard Note) / Safety Advice (Status as at Date of Publication)
