Field of Application
Due to its special formula, RF-RaumFinish is particularly suitable for coating new woodchip/ingrain wallpapers and medium up to coarsely textured glass fabric wallcoverings. Equalises wallpaper joints due to high filling capacity. Also eminently suitable for paint coatings on plasterboards, plasters and all other common substrates in interiors. Excellent coating results are achievable, due to convincing appplication properties.

Colours
RF-RaumFinish: Approx. RAL 9016 Verkehrsweiß.Tintable with CaparolColor or AmphiColor® (AVA) colourants. If more than one container is manually tinted, all product must be thoroughly mixed before use in order to avoid colour differences.
RF-RaumFinish can be tinted to all current colour collections via the ColorExpress tinting & mixing machine system, to luminosity/lightness index (LI) approx. 70. Quantities of 100 litres or more in individual colours may be ordered ready-tinted ex factory. Check tinted product before applying to avoid colour differences. Always use tinted paint of same batch, when applying on seamless surfaces.

Suitable Substrates
The substrate must be sound/stable, dry, clean, and free from all substances that may prevent good adhesion. In Germany: Follow VOB, part C, DIN 18363, section 3.Substrate Preparation
Plasters:Class PII (Lime-Cement Mortars), Class PIII (Cement Mortars) / Minimum Compressive Strength according to DIN EN 998-1: 1.5 N/mm2:Solid plasters with normal absorbency require no preliminary treatment. Prime highly porous and absorbent plasters with OptiGrund or CapaSol.
Gypsum and Ready-Mixed GypsumPlasters in Mortar Group PIV / Minimum Compressive Strength according to DIN EN 13279: 2 N/mm2:
Apply one priming coat of Caparol-Haftgrund. Sand/grind sintered gypsum plasters, remove sanding dust, and prime with Caparol-Tiefgrund TB.
Gypsum Wallboards: Prime absorbent boards with OptiGrund E.L.F. or Caparol-Tiefgrund TB.
Prime highly compacted (dense) and smooth boards with Caparol-Haftgrund to enhance bonding.
Gypsum Plasterboards (Sandwich-Type Plaster Boards / Am.: Drywalls): Sand/grind off any mortar burrs. Prime and strengthen soft gypsum areas (repair patches) with Caparol-Tiefgrund TB. Apply one priming coat of Caparol-Haftgrund, OptiGrund or CapaSol.Boards containing water-soluble, discolouring substances that leave marks must be primed with Caparol AquaSperrgrund. In Germany: Follow BFS Data Sheet No. 12.
Concrete: Remove all separating agent (formwork oil residues) and chalking or sanding substances.
Autoclaved Aerated Concrete (AAC) / Cellular Concrete: Prime with a 1 : 3 mixture of Capaplex and tap (potable) water.
Facing Brickwork and Fair-Faced Sand-Lime Brick Masonry: Coat without pre-treatment.
Sound/Stable Existing Coatings: Treat matt, slightly absorbent coatings without a preliminary preparation. Roughen/sand glossy surfaces and enamel coatings. Apply one priming coat of Caparol-Haftgrund.
Unstable Existing Coatings: Remove unstable coatings of enamel, emulsion paint or synthetic (organic) plaster. Prime slightly absorbent, smooth surfaces with Caparol-Haftgrund. Prime highly porous, sanding or absorbent plasters with OptiGrund or CapaSol. Remove unstable coats of mineral paint by mechanical means and remove all sanding dust. Prime with Caparol-Tiefgrund TB.
Coats of Glue-Bound Distemper (Limewater Colour/Paint): Wash off the existing distemper very thoroughly, allow to fully dry and prime with Caparol-Tiefgrund TB.
Unpainted Woodchip/Ingrain, Relief or Embossed Wallpapers (made of Paper):
No preliminary treatment required.
Non-Adherent Wallpapers: Remove completely. Wash off all residues of wallpaper paste/glue and waste paper. Apply one priming coat of Caparol-Tiefgrund TB.
Mildewed Surfaces: Remove fungal attack (fungi/mildew/mould) by wet cleaning, then use Capatox or FungiGrund and allow to dry thoroughly. Prime according to the type and condition of the substrate. Apply a finishing coat of Indeko-W, Malerit-W or Fungitex-W on badly infested surfaces, in compliance with legal/local and official regulations (follow e.g. Ordinance of Biocidal Agents and Ordinance on Hazardous Substances).
Surfaces Stained by Nicotine, Water,Soot or Fat/Grease: Remove nicotine, soot or fat/grease stains by washing with tap water adding a fat-dissolving household detergent, then allow the substrate to dry thoroughly. Clean dried-up water stains by dry brushing-off. Apply one insulating coat of Caparol AquaSperrgrund.
Apply one finishing coat of Caparol Aqua-inn Nº1 on highly soiled surfaces.Wood and Derived Timber Products: Coat with waterborne, ecologically compatible Capacryl acrylic enamels or Capacryl PU enamels.
Small Defects: After having completed the necessary preparations, repair small defects with Caparol-Akkordspachtel in accordance with our application instructions and, if necessary, prime subsequently.
Method of Application
Apply with paint brush, roller or airless equipment.Airless application:
Spray angle: 50°
Nozzle size: 0.021" - 0.025"
Spray pressure: 150 - 180 bar
Stir and sieve the paint well before applying.
Clean tools/equipment immediately after use with water.
Surface Coating System
One even, liberally applied coat of paint, undiluted or diluted to a max. of 5 % with tap (potable) water. Surfaces with colour contrast: One previously applied priming coat, diluted to a max. of 5 % with tap water, if necessary. Prime unevenly absorbent substrates with Caparol-Haftgrund.Consumption
Approx. 150 ml/m2 per coat, depending on substrate texture.Determine the exact amount of material required by coating a test area on site.
Application Conditions
Lower Temperature Limit forApplication and Drying:+5 °C for product, substrate and ambient air.
Drying/Drying Time
At +20 °C and 65 % relative humidity surface-dry and recoatable after 4 - 6 hours. Cured and ready for stress after approx. 3 days.Lower temperatures and higher relative humidity extend the drying time.Note
To avoid lapping, the product should beapplied wet-on-wet and without interruption. The use of CapaSilan is recommended for coats on smooth surfaces subjected to adverse lighting conditions (sidelight/grazing light).Due to the use of Caparol-Tiefgrund TB in interiors, a typical solvent odour is released, hence proper ventilation must be provided during application and drying.Use non-aromatic, low-odour AmphiSilan-Putzfestiger in sensitive areas.
Touching up surfaces is depending on many parameters and may be visible after drying.
(In Germany: See BFS Data Sheet No. 25).
