082Note
Use material from one batch number on continuous surfaces.
Natural colour shifts and differences in colour shade are possible with changing batches and different drying conditions.
Inhomogeneous material, fluctuating quantities of mixing water and non-compliance with the maturing time can lead to an uneven joint colour - especially with highly pigmented or dark joint colours.
The "allgemeine bauaufsichtliche Zulassung" (general building authority approval) / "allgemeine Bauartgenehmigung" (general building type approval) of the underlying ETIC systems and the technical information of the products must be observed.
Substrate Preparation
As a rule, the joints are smoothed or scraped out to an even depth corresponding to the thickness of the tiles after the ceramic cladding has been applied and before the laying adhesive has set.
The laying adhesive must be set and completely dry at the time of grouting. The substrate must be even, have a closed surface and be free of adhesion-reducing residues. Remove loose mortar residues.
Ensure that the substrate and the joint edges have an even absorbency. If necessary, pre-wet surfaces evenly to prevent the material from drying out too quickly. Remove standing water before grouting.
Method of Application
Create a uniform joint depth of at least 6 - 20 mm.
- Ensure uniform joint width of 6 - 20 mm or according to approval.
Grouting:
Place the mortar in the joint and apply and compact it flush with the surface using a jointing trowel corresponding to the joint width. Apply the material evenly to ensure uniform colouring. Ensure that the joint is completely filled and evenly distributed. Fill deep joints in two layers. First grout the bed joints and then the butt joints.
Residues of the grout may adhere to claddings with a large-pored surface. For this reason, we recommend always carrying out a test grouting. Carefully sweep off any material adhering to the ceramic cladding (grout residue).
Protect the freshly applied grout from frost, draughts, precipitation, direct sunlight and high temperatures during the first few days.
Protect the finished surfaces from drying out too quickly or from "burning on".
Depending on the weather conditions, moisten ("mist") the finished jointing regularly with a suitable device, e.g. "Gloria sprayer", during the first few days.
Execute connection joints to materials with different thermal expansion coefficients with elastic joint sealants.
Reinigung:
Remove impurities, haze, residues on the ceramic surface with a suitable cleaner.
On engobed, especially dark ceramic claddings, the effect of Newton's rings (light iridescent discolouration on the surface) may occur. This can be removed with suitable cleaners.
When using veil removers or other cleaners, changes in the colour of the joint may occur, therefore cleaning tests on inconspicuous areas are necessary.
Please ask for advice.
Improper cleaning will invalidate the warranty.
Consumption
Dimensions of brick slips [ mm ] | Consumption | ||
15 mm | 10 mm | 8 mm | |
240 x 71 (NF) | 5.5 - 6.5 | 3.5 - 4.5 | 3.0 - 4.0 |
240 x 52 (DF) | 6.0 - 7.0 | 4.0 - 5.0 | 3.2 - 4.2 |
These data are approximate values. The exact consumption must be determined depending on the brick slips format, the joint width and its depth by trial laying.
Application Conditions
During the application and drying phase, the ambient and substrate temperatures must not drop below +5 °C and must not exceed +25 °C.
Do not apply in direct sunlight or on heated surfaces.
Drying/Drying Time
The drying time depends on temperature, wind and relative humidity. In principle, suitable protective measures (e.g. tarpaulins or nets) must be taken on the façade surface to be worked on or freshly constructed in case of unfavourable weather conditions.
Tool Cleaning
Immediately after use with water.
Material Preparation
Pour approx. 2.5-3.0 litres of water into a clean container and mix with the contents of the bag (25 kg) to form a lump-free, earth-moist mortar. Mix with a slow-running agitator or compulsory mixer. After approx. 3 minutes of maturing time, work through again thoroughly.
Always use exactly the same amount of water in relation to the powder quantity to avoid colour deviations. To ensure uniform colouring, especially with highly pigmented or dark grout colours, ensure that homogeneous mixing, the correct and constant amount of mixing water and the maturing time are observed. Do not mix with other materials.
The consistency of the mixed grout is correct when the grout pressed together in the hand does not disintegrate after repeated rolling back and forth on the open palm of the hand, but also does not stick particularly well.
The mixed mortar can be worked at approx. 20 °C for about 1 hour. Higher temperatures shorten the open time, lower temperatures extend it.
Special Risks (Hazard Note) / Safety Advice (Status as at Date of Publication)
Causes skin irritation. Causes severe eye damage. May cause respiratory irritation. If medical advice is needed, have packaging or label at hand. Keep out of the reach of children. Do not breathe dust or mist. Use only outdoors or in well-ventilated areas. Wear protective gloves/eye protection. IF IN EYES: Rinse cautiously with water for several minutes. Remove contact lenses if possible. Continue rinsing. Call a POISON CENTRE/doctor immediately. Keep under lock and key.
Additional advice: Wear long trousers! Avoid prolonged skin contact with the render. Immediately clean affected skin thoroughly with water. The longer fresh render remains on your skin, the greater the risk of serious skin damage. It is essential to follow the manufacturer's health and safety instructions during the application phase.
Disposal
Only empty bags (without trickling) for recycling. Can be landfilled after concentration, when in compliance with local regulations.
