Suitable Substrates

The substrate must be planar, have a closed surface and be free from any substances that may prevent good adhesion. Joints should be as uniform as possible, joint depth min. 6 mm, joint width 5-20 mm.
Note: On substrates with highly porous surfaces remnants of grout might adhere.

Substrate Preparation

The edges of the coatings must be clean and free from any substances that may prevent good adhesion. Remove any remnants of dried adhesive mortar.
Wet highly absorbent surfaces in advance. It is important to ensure that the substrate and the joint edges are of uniform absorbency. The adhesive mortar must be set and completely dry before grouting. Deep joints should be filled in two steps.

Method of Application

Fill joints flush using a rubber float or a grout sponge. Joints must be pre-wetted. Ensure complete filling of the joints. Remove all remnants of adhesive mortar before application. Wash the surface with a grout sponge, completely removing the cement film, use cleaning detergent if necessary.

Fill connection joints to different materials with an elastic joint filler.

Consumption

Approx. 3–5 kg/m2
Consumption values are reference values and may vary. The exact rate of consumption depends on tile dimensions, joint width and depth. Consumption is best established by trial application on site.

Application Conditions

Processing temperature: + 5 °C to + 30 °C during application and curing for substrate, material, atmospheric temperature

The product should not be applied in direct sunlight or on sun heated substrates, during strong wind, fog or rain, high relative humidity or imminent rain or frost etc. Do not let the material dry too fast. If necessary wet the surface with clean water to ensure a uniform curing process.

Drying/Drying Time

At 20 °C and 65 % RH the joint material is surface dry after approx. 24 hours.

Tool Cleaning

Immediately after use with water.

Material Preparation

Pour the content of a powder bag into approx 6 l tap water and stir the material with a low-speed electric paddle until a homogeneous, lump-free colour shade is achieved. After approx 3 minutes stir again very thoroughly.
Hardened material cannot be made applicable by adding water. Only mix as much material as can be applied within 40 minutes.

Note: With porous tiles or matte glazes necessarily perform a processing sample. The mortar may leave residues at such surfaces.
Depending on the humidity of the substrate and the absorbency of the tile edges a staining upon drying of the joint mortar may occur. Please take care for constant and uniforme processing conditions.

Special Risks (Hazard Note) / Safety Advice (Status as at Date of Publication)

Restricted to professional users. Causes skin irritation. Causes serious eye damage. May cause respiratory irritation. Keep out of reach of children. Do not breathe dust or mist. Wear protective gloves/ protective clothing/ eye protection/ face protection. IF SWALLOWED: Rinse mouth. Do NOT induce vomiting. IF IN EYES: Rinse cautiously with water for several minutes. Remove contact lenses, if present and easy to do. Continue rinsing. Get medical advice/ attention. Due to its potassium silicate content, the reaction of silicate based coatings is highly alkaline. Hence protect skin and eyes from paint. The areas adjoining the surface to be coated must be carefully masked, in particular glass, ceramics, enamel/varnish coating, clinkers, natural stones, wood and metals. Wash splashes immediately and completely with plenty of clean water. Contains cement.

Disposal

Can be landfilled after concentration, when in compliance with local regulations. Empty containers should be taken to an approved waste handling site for recycling or disposal.
