Field of Application
Histolith® sol-silicate fixative based on a unique alkali water glass binder combination for best possible silicification.
Binder combination for the best possible silicification is used as a primer for consolidating and levelling
and levelling highly or differently absorbent substrates and as a thinner for Histolith® sol-silicate paints.
Material Properties
- Highly permeable to water vapour and carbon dioxide
- Ideally consolidates the substrate for less material consumption and ensures the quality of the subsequent coating
- High consolidation effect
- Good penetration capacity
- Solvent-free
Material Base / Vehicle
High-quality potassium water glasses, silica sol and organic additives.Packaging/Package Size

Suitable Substrates
The substrate must be free of dirt, separating substances, dry and frost-free.
Observe VOB, Part C, DIN 18363, section 3.
Substrate Preparation
Substrate testing in accordance with leaflet no. 20 and 20.1 of the "Bundesausschuss Farbe Sachwertschutz e.V." (Bundesausschuss Colour and Property Value Protection e.V.).
Mask window sills and add-on parts.
Carefully cover glass, ceramics, clinker, natural stone, painted, glazed and anodised surfaces.
New renders according to DIN EN 998-1 Class CS I - CS IV:
Before coating, a standing time of at least 7 days at 20°C and 65% relative humidity must be observed. must be observed.
Treat plaster repairs / sintered skin with Histolith® Fluat.
Old uncoated renders and old mineral coatings, brickwork:
Clean the surface. Remove any layers with low strength.
Fungal or algae-infested surfaces:
Wet clean surfaces with fungal or algae infestation. After drying, treat the surfaces with Capatox and allow to dry.
Preparation of Material
Depending on the area of application, dilute with appropriate Histolith® products or, depending on the absorbency depending on the absorbency of the substrate, with water.
Method of Application
Brush, roll or spray application with powerful airless devices.
Apply the material evenly, generously and massage in.
Spray application:
Spray angle: 60°
Nozzle: 0.029
Spray pressure: 50 bar
Surface Coating System
Primer
Material can be diluted 2:1 to 1:1 with water depending on the absorbency of the substrate.
Diluent
Histolith® Sol-Silikat, Histolith® KontaktQuarz, Histolith® Mineralin, Histolith® FassadenSilikat,
Histolith® Antik-Lasur.
Consumption
- approx. 100 - 200 ml/m2 depending on the absorbency of the substrate
Deviations depending on the object or processing conditions must be taken into account.
Application Conditions
During The application and in the drying phase, the ambient and substrate temperatures must not be below +8 °C and above +30 °C.
Do not apply in direct sunlight, strong wind, fog or high humidity. In this context, we refer to the leaflet "Verputzen, Wärmedämmen, Spachteln, Beschichten bei hohen und tiefen Temperaturen" (Rendering, Thermal Insulation, Filling, Coating at High and Low Temperatures) from the Bundesverband Ausbau und Fassade (Federal Association for Finishing and Facades).
In unfavourable weather conditions, suitable measures must be taken to protect the treated façade surfaces.
Waiting Time
The waiting time for reworking depends on temperature, air humidity, air movement,
sunlight and application thickness. The information therefore serves as a guide.
- Surface dry and recoatable at 20 °C and 65 % relative humidity after approx. 12 h
Drying/Drying Time
At +20 °C and 65 % relative humidity recoatable after 12 hours.Tool Cleaning
Rinse with water immediately after use, observing the legal requirements. Please Note (Status as at Date of Publication)
Silicate-based primer, water-based.
Due to its potassium silicate content, the reaction of silicate based coatings is highly alkaline. Hence protect skin and eyes from paint.
Disposal
Materials and all related packaging must be disposed of in a safe way in accordance with the full requirements of the local, regional, national and international authorities.EU limit value for the VOC content
