Field of Application
Ready-to-use fine plaster to obtain sorption-capable interior surfaces. The risk of fungal attack (fungi/mildew/mould) on the surface is minimised due to buffering of water molecules from inside air and the natural alkalinity of the coating. Furthermore, Matador® Feinputz promotes a constant and pleasant room climate. Suitable for use as filling surfacer (spackling compound) to obtain even walls and ceilings in sensitive areas, like preschools, lounges and living quarters. Particularly suitable (efficient) for use in rooms with occasionally higher air moisture/humidity and as fine plaster on capillary active interior thermal insulation composite systems, e.g. Capatect IDS Aktiv and Capatect IDS Mineral.Material Properties

Rework matt, slightly absorbent coatings without pre-treatment. Roughen/sand glossy surfaces of latex paint coatings, remove sanding dust and apply one priming coat of Putzgrund 610.
Unstable Existing Coatings:
Remove unsound coatings of enamel and emulsion/latex paint or synthetic (organic) plaster. Prime slightly absorbent, smooth surfaces with Putzgrund 610. Prime highly porous, sanding or absorbent surfaces with OptiGrund or CapaSol. Remove unstable coats of mineral paint by mechanical means and remove all sanding dust. Apply one priming coat of Caparol-Tiefgrund TB.
Glue-Bound Distemper (Limewater Colour/Paint):
Wash off the existing distemper very thoroughly, allow to dry and prime with Caparol-Tiefgrund TB.
Wallpapers:
Remove the wallpapers completely and wash off all residues of wallpaper paste/glue and waste paper.
Prime the substrate with Caparol-Tiefgrund TB.
Mildewed/Mouldy Surfaces:
Remove fungal (fungi/mildew/mould) attack by wet cleaning, then use Capatox and allow to dry thoroughly. Prime according to the type and condition of the substrate. Follow legal/local and official regulations (e.g. Ordinance of Biocidal Agents and Ordinance on Hazardous Substances).
Surfaces Stained by Nicotine, Water, Soot or Fat/Grease:
Remove nicotine, soot or fat/grease stains by washing with tap water adding a fat-dissolving household detergent, then allow the surface to dry thoroughly. Clean dried-up water stains with a dry scrubbing brush. Apply one insulating prime coat of Caparol-Filtergrund grob (coarse).
Method of Application
Manual application or spray application with suitable plaster spraying equipment.
Manual/Trowel Application:
Stir up Matador® Feinputz very thoroughly, then apply with a stainless steel trowel and smoothen the surface without delay using stainless smoothing trowel or similar suitable finishing tool to achieve an even (planar) surface. Allow to cure and sand the surface, if necessary.
Spray Application:
Apply undiluted Matador® Feinputz liberally to the full surface, then smoothen with a broad smoothing tool (float) made of stainless steel. Allow to cure and sand the surface, if necessary. Provide for a minimum product temperature of +10 °C during application to obtain optimal processing properties.
Fleece Embedding:
For embedding AkkordVlies G45 SP apply Matador® Feinputz liberally and in sufficient quantity for 2 to 3 webs/lengths and treat the surface with a notched stainless steel trowel (4 x 6 x 4 mm). Then apply the fleece and press on evenly using stainless steel smoothing trowel, but do not press in border (seam/overlap) area for approx. 5 cm. Lay the following lengths with an overlap of approx. 5 cm and press on, except the seam area. Then complete a double-seam cut (perhaps by sliding cutter) and press on. Wipe off escaping filler with a soft, moistened cloth. Sand somewhat uneven seam areas slightly before further treatment.
Surface Coating System
Reworking:Thoroughly cured product is directly recoatable with suitable paint products. On large surfaces the product should be applied wet-on-wet.
Consumption
Approx. 1.3 kg/m2 per mm of coating thickness.Application Conditions
Low Temperature Limit for Application and Drying: +8° C for substrate and ambient air.Drying/Drying Time
Approx. 12 - 48 hours, depending on building moisture, temperature and thickness of coat.Note
Due to the absorbency of Matador® Feinputz roller marks may be visible when recoating large surfaces in adverse lighting conditions. The effect is minimised or avoidable when the product is speedily applied, wet-on-wet. Due to the use of Caparol-Tiefgrund TB in interiors, a typical solvent odour is released, hence proper ventilation must be provided during application and drying. Use low odour AmphiSilan-Putzfestiger in sensitive areas (free of aromatic hydrocarbons).Fine blistering may occur on compact/dense substrates with low absorbency. These air pockets are removable after a short flash off time by repeated smoothing. The exact point in time is depending on temperature and relative humidity on site. If blistering reappears the smoothing procedure has been effected a little too early and must be repeated.
On coarse, roughly textured substrates yet another work step may be necessary to obtain a smooth/even surface.
Reworking gypsum filling compounds may lead to swelling, blistering and flaking due to long lasting moisture exposure. Provide for quick drying by sufficient ventilation and temperature.
Germany: Follow Data Sheet No. 2 "Verspachtelung von Gipsplatten" (Trowel Application on Plasterboards), issued by the German Association of Gypsum and Plasterboard Industry.
