Suitable Substrates
The substrate must be solid, load-bearing, free from soiling, separating substances, dry, absorbent and frost-free. Observe VOB, Part C, DIN 18363, Para. 3.Substrate Preparation
Mask window sills and add-on parts.
Carefully cover glass, ceramic, clinker, natural stone, painted, glazed and anodised surfaces.
Old unpainted renders and old mineral coatings:
Clean the surface well. Remove any layers of low strength.
New renders according to DIN EN 998-1 class CS I - CS IV:
Before coating, a standing time of at least 7 days at 20°C and 65% relative humidity must be
observed. Treat render repairs / sintered skin with Histolith® Fluat.
Old, stable, matt emulsion paint coats:
Oberfläche gut reinigen. Eine Grundbeschichtung mit Histolith® Mineralin, verdünnt mit ca. 5 % Histolith® Sol-Silikat Fixativ.
Distemper coatings:
Wash off thoroughly. Apply a primer coat with Dupa-Putzfestiger.
Brick masonry:
Only masonry made of absorbent bricks is suitable as a substrate. Hard-fired bricks and clinker bricks are not suitable. If possible, create a test surface and check the compatibility of the paint. Clean the surface thoroughly. Repair damaged mortar joints.
Prime with Histolith® Sol-Silikat Fixativ, diluted 2 : 1 to 1 : 1 in water depending on the absorbency of the substrate. For bricks with water-soluble, discolouring ingredients, apply a primer coat with Caparol Aqua-Sperrgrund.
Natural stones:
Only absorbent natural stone is suitable as a substrate. If possible, create a test surface and check the compatibility of the coating. Clean the surface thoroughly. Remove layers of low strength. Please note: In the case of natural stone with water-soluble ingredients, these can bloom on the painted surface and cause stains.
Concrete:
Remove any release agent residues.
Gypsum plasters according to DIN EN 13279-1 / compressive strength min. 1 N/mm2:
Strengthen soft gypsum plasters with Histolith® Sol-Silikat Fixativ. Smooth and remove dust from gypsum plasters with sintered skin, prime with Histolith® Sol-Silikat Fixativ.
Plasterboard:
Grind off filler burrs. Consolidate soft gypsum levelling areas with Histolith® Sol-Silikat Fixativ. For boards with water-soluble, discolouring ingredients, apply a primer coat with Caparol AquaSperrgrund fein (observe BFS data sheet no. 12).
Fungal or algae-infested surfaces:
Wet clean surfaces with fungal or algae infestation. After drying, treat the surfaces with Capatox and leave to dry.
Mould-infested surfaces:
Wash off mould infestation. After drying, treat the surfaces with Capatox and leave to dry.
Preparation of Material
Stir the contents of the container thoroughly with a slow-running agitator.
Dilutable up to max. 10 % with Histolith® Sol-Silikat Fixativ.
Method of Application
Brushing, rolling or spraying with powerful airless piston devices.
Spray application: e.g. with Inotec InoBeam M8 peristaltic feed pump.
Material dilution: up to max. 10% Histolith® Sol-Silikat Fixativ.
Nozzle size: 4 mm, spraying pressure: 3-4 bar
Finish contiguous surfaces without interruption to avoid lapping. Divide large facades into clauses, apply continuously wet-on-wet and structure.
Surface Coating System
Weakly and evenly absorbent mineral substrates:
Priming and finishing coat, diluted with approx. 5 % Histolith® Sol-Silikat Fixativ.
Highly and unevenly absorbent or sanding mineral substrates:
A primer coat with Histolith® Sol-Silikat Fixativ, diluted 2 : 1 to 1 : 1 in water depending on the absorbency of the substrate.
An intermediate coat diluted with approx. 5 % Histolith® Sol-Silikat Fixativ.
One final coat diluted with approx. 5 % Histolith® Sol-Silikat Fixativ.
Alternative products for exterior or interior:
all Histolith® facade paints or interior paints can be used.
Consumption
- approx. 400-500 g/m2 per coat on a smooth substrate
These consumption figures are approximate values.
Deviations depending on the object or processing must be taken into account.
Application Conditions
During the application and curing phase, the ambient and substrate temperatures must not be
substrate temperatures must not be below +8 °C and above +30 °C. Do not apply under direct
Do not apply in direct sunlight, strong wind, fog or high humidity.
Please refer to the leaflet "Rendering, thermal insulation, levelling, coating at high and low
temperatures" from the the Bundesverband Ausbau und Fassade.
In unfavourable weather conditions, suitable measures must be taken to protect the facade surfaces.
Drying/Drying Time
The waiting time for reworking depends on temperature, humidity, air movement, sunlight and application thickness. The information provided is therefore for guidance only.
- Surface dry and recoatable at 20 °C and 65 % relative humidity after approx. 12 h
Tool Cleaning
Rinse with water immediately after use in accordance with legal requirements.Note
Depending on the condition of the substrate and weather-related influences, colour deviations and staining may occur. It is recommended to apply a test coating, also to check the substrate compatibility. Please Note (Status as at Date of Publication)
Warning! Hazardous respirable droplets may be formed when sprayed. Do not breathe spray or mist. Safety data sheet available on request.Disposal
