Suitable Substrates

Suitable for masonry according to DIN 1053.
Do not use on moisture (rising damp) or salt-containing masonry.
In Germany: Follow DIN 18550, VOB part C DIN 18350.

Substrate Preparation

The substrate must be sound/stable, frost-free, dry, clean, and free from all substances that may prevent good adhesion. Rendering must be roughened and fully set/cured. Carefully clean the substrate. Pre-wet absorbent substrates (matt moist surface appearance). Apply a half-covering scratch coat of Histolith® Trass-Vorspritzputz and allow to harden until the surface has a bright/light-coloured appearance.

Preparation of Material

  • Prepare Histolith® Trass-Kalkputz manually or use current plastering machine equipment.
  • Water demand: Approx. 7 litres per bag
  • Workability time: Approx. 120 minutes

Method of Application

Apply a 15 - 20 mm thick layer on the prepared substrate and then roughen the touch dry surface. After a sufficiently long drying time a second layer of product can be applied.
The average layer thickness for exterior surfaces must be 20 mm (permissible minimum layer thickness: 15 mm).
Interiors 15 mm (permissible minimum layer thickness: 10 mm) must be applied.
If a felted surface is stipulated, then allow the surface to dry for a sufficiently long time and apply Histolith® Feinputz (fine render/plaster) or fine mineral mortar Histolith® Renovierspachtel and treat with a felt float.

Surface Coating System

On exterior surfaces a finishing coat with highly water vapour permeable paint is essential.
Therefore Histolith® Dispersionssilikatfarben (emulsion silicate paints) and Histolith® Kalkfarben (lime paints) are recommended.

Consumption

Approx. 1.4 kg/m2 per mm of layer thickness.
The exact rate of consumption is best established by trial coatings on site.

Application Conditions

Lower Temperature Limit for Application and Drying:
≥ +5 °C for product, substrate and ambient air.
The product should not be applied in direct sunlight or on sun heated substrates, during strong wind, fog or rain, high relative humidity or imminent rain or frost, etc. or protect the surfaces by suitable means.

Drying/Drying Time

Allow to set for 1 day per mm layer thickness before applying subsequent coats. Protect coated surfaces from premature drying.

Tool Cleaning

Clean tools/equipment immediately after use with water.

Special Risks (Hazard Note) / Safety Advice (Status as at Date of Publication)

Causes serious eye damage. Causes skin irritation. Do not breathe dust. Do not get in eyes, on skin, or on clothing. Use personal protective equipment as required. IF IN EYES: Rinse cautiously with water for several minutes. Remove contact lenses, if present and easy to do. Continue rinsing. Get medical advice/ attention. IF SWALLOWED: rinse mouth. Do NOT induce vomiting. Get immediate medical advice/ attention.

Disposal

Materials and all related packaging must be disposed of in a safe way in accordance with the full requirements of the local authority. Particular attention should be made to removing wastage from site in compliance with standard construction site procedures.
In Germany: Bags must be empty for recycling. Dispose hardened residues as mixed construction site and demolition waste.
