Colour Resistance according to BFS Data Sheet No. 26:
Binding agent: Category C
Pigmentation: Group 1 to 3, depending on the colour shade
Bright colours may have a tendency to yellow, when the product is applied on surfaces with low incidence of light (e. g. in interior spaces), as a typical property of the linseed oil binder.

Suitable Substrates
The substrate must be absorbent, solid, sound/stable, dry (wood moisture < 15 %), clean, and free from all substances that may prevent good adhesion. In Germany: Follow VOB, part C, DIN 18 363, section 3.
Substrate Preparation
Uncoated WoodNew wooden parts:
Sand/grind the surface in fibre direction, clean thoroughly, remove seeping wood contents, e.g. wood resin/rosin and resin galls/pitch pockets, cut sharp edges.
Weathered Wood:
Sand off/smooth down to obtain a stable substrate or use draw blade, then clean thoroughly the well prepared surface. Cut sharp edges.
Stable Existing Coats:
Oil/alkyd enamels: Carefully sand/roughen the surface.
Coats of Emulsion Paint and Acrylic Enamels:
Carefully remove all existing coats.
Method of Application
Apply the product by paint brush.
Surface Coating System
Impregnation:
Oak wood, exterior and interior: Apply Histolith® Halböl (semi-oil)
Conifer wood, exterior: Apply Capalac Holz-Imprägniergrund
Conifer wood, interior: Apply Histolith® Halböl (semi-oil)
Priming Coat:
Apply Histolith® Leinölfarbe (linseed oil paint)

Application:
Carefully stir the product before use. Apply Histolith® Leinölfarbe in fibre direction and spread well. Always apply a thin film and spread excess product in slots to avoid surface wrinkling. Thin to a max. of 10 % with Histolith® Halböl (semi-oil), if necessary.
Consumption
80 - 100 ml/m2 per coat on smooth substrates.Determine the exact amount of material required by coating a test area on site.
Application Conditions
Lower Temperature Limit for Application and Drying:+10 °C for product, substrate and ambient air.
Drying/Drying Time
As experience teaches, linseed oil paints require longer drying times than current synthetic enamels. At +20 °C and 65 % relative humidity the product is recoatable after 24 hours.
Lower temperatures and higher humidity extend the drying time.
Protect the surface against mechanical stress/damage and gathering dust until the coating is fully dry.
Drying period: Up to 4 weeks, depending on conditions on site.
Tool Cleaning
Immediately after use with white spirit. Please Note (Status as at Date of Publication)
Keep out of reach of children. Do not breathe vapours/spray. Do not get in eyes, on skin, or on clothing. Use only outdoors or in a well-ventilated area. Avoid release to the environment. Further information: See Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS).
Cloths and wipes soaked with the product are subject to risk of self-ignition (due to the content of linseed oil). They should therefore always be kept in tightly closed metal containers or outspread in the open air in order to dry.
Disposal
Materials and all related packaging must be disposed of in a safe way in accordance with the full requirements of the local authorities.
