Field of Application
Protective surface coating for concrete roof tiles and clay bricks.Note: Disboroof 408 Dachfarbe has a preservative agent against the film coating deterioration due to algae and mildew (mould) growth. Hence, rain water collected from roofs coated with Disboroof 408 should not be used for the watering of gardens within 12 months.

Suitable Substrates
Weathered (aged minimum 10 years) absorbent concrete roof tiles and engobed or glazed clay bricks.
Please Note: Modern roof tiles sometimes offer refined surfaces, e.g. dirt-repellent, self-cleaning surfaces. Previously applied trial coatings (test areas on site) on such surfaces are essential for check of proper adhesion. |
Substrate Preparation
Before coating, replace or repair damaged roof tiles and sealing materials as well as defective joints and connections by an appropriate roofing specialist. The roof must be sufficiently ventilated (air circulation behind the roofing). Carefully remove all organic substances, such as moss and algae, as well as loose/brittle substances and dirt by high-pressure water jet. Always work directed towards the draining pipe to avoid excessive penetration of moisture beneath the roofing material. Cleaned substrates must be solid, sound/stable/load-bearing and free from all substances that may prevent a good coating adhesion.
Preparation of Material
Stir well before use. The priming coat can be diluted to a max. of 5 % with tap (potable) water.Method of Application
Disboroof 408 can be applied by suitable spraying equipment using an extension / spray lance (Airless, max. 150 bar, nozzle size: 0.021 to 0.025 inches).Surface Coating System
Concrete Roof Tiles:
Moisten the weathered adsorbent concrete roof tiles (aged minimum 10 years) or apply two coats of Disboroof 408 directly after having completed the cleaning procedure.
Clay Bricks (engobed & glazed):
Prime the well prepared dry substrate with Disbon 481 EP-Uniprimer. After a waiting time of at least 3 hours (at 20 °C) but within max. 3 days, apply 2 coats with Disboroof 408. Allow a waiting time of min. 2 hours between the first and the second coat.
Please Note: Apply a trial coating on new concrete roof tiles (aged < 10 years) with Disboroof 408 or Disbon 481 EP-Uniprimer + Disboroof 408, allow to dry and check for sufficient adhesion. |
Consumption
Approximately 330 - 380 ml/m2 (360 - 420 g/m2) per coat, depending on the type and surface condition of the roofing material. Determine the exact amount of material required by coating a test area on site.Application Conditions
Material, Ambient Air and Substrate Temperature:Min. 10 °C, max. 35 °C during application and drying.
The relative humidity must not exeed 80 %. Do not apply on strongly sun heated surfaces and when there is an imminent risk of rain or frost.
Drying/Drying Time
At 20 °C and 60 % relative humidity, dust-dry after 4 hours and completely dry after approximately 24 hours.Tool Cleaning
Clean immediately after use with water.
