Field of Application
To be used for interior coatings offering good sealing/inhibiting properties on substrates showing nicotine soot and water stains, discolouring ingredients and substances containing aniline. Also suitable as a stain inhibiting coat before decorating (hanging wallpapers). In addition, the primer has a sealing effect on wood or derivative wood products with wood contents and is therefore used before applying dispersion/emulsion paint coatings.

Suitable Substrates
The substrate must be sound/stable, dry, clean, and free from all substances that may prevent good adhesion. In Germany: Follow VOB, part C, DIN 18 363, section 3.Follow Technical Information No. 650 (Substrates and their Preparation).
Substrate Preparation
All usual mineral substrates (renders/plasters, concrete, brickwork/masonry), fibre-cement, wooden fibreboards and chip boards, gypsum, plasterboards, existing paint coatings, ceramic coverings, as well as glass, synthetic materials (check for compatibility by preliminary trial coating) and non-ferrous metals.Wash off nicotine, soot or fat/grease stains with clean water, adding a fat-dissolving household detergent, and allow the surface to dry well. Remove dried-up water stains with a dry scrubbing brush.
Method of Application
Apply with paint brush or roller. Clean tools immediately after use with water.Surface Coating System
Priming coat
to be carried out with undiluted product. Apply a second coat, if substrates are subjected to extremely high loads.
Further treatment
with all types of Caparol emulsion paints for interior use, in compliance with current Technical Information.
Consumption
Approx. 90 - 110 ml/m2 per coat on smooth substrates. On roughly textured surfaces correspondingly more. Determine the exact amount of material required by coating a test area on site.Application Conditions
Minimum Temperature for Application and Drying:
+5 °C for ambient air and substrate. To ensure an optimum insulation effect a minimum temperature of +16 °C is required.
Drying/Drying Time
At +20 °C and 65 % relative humidity allow to dry for at least 12 hours between coats.Lower temperatures and higher humidity extend the drying time.
Note
Do not mix or dilute Caparol Aqua-Sperrgrund with other materials. For coating highly soiled or polluted surfaces or for short-term renovation of rooms which must be reused within one day, it is advisable to use the highly covering quick-renovation paint Dupa-inn Nº1 (Follow Technical Information No. 385).
Rooms where foodstuffs are produced, stored or sold, must be well-ventilated for min. 3 days (after having finished with paint work) before reuse.
