Field of Application
Ready-to-use synthetic resin filling compound (filler/surfacer), adjusted for spray application, provided with a higher moisture resistance and high adhesive strength.Suitable for efficient spray application on large areas (seamless surfaces), for smoothing walls and ceilings subjected to higher moisture loads. The product has a good opacity and high filling power.
Particularly suitable for smoothing concrete (e.g. in-situ concrete and filigree concrete ceilings), mineral plasters, concrete blocks and autoclaved aerated concrete, plasterboards (sandwich-type plaster boards), gypsum wallboards and also for recoating glass fibre wall coverings and textured plasters in thin-layer plastering technique.
The product is suitable to obtain surface qualities of quality level/class Q3 or Q4 corresponding with specification given in German BVG Data Sheet No. 2 and BFS Data Sheet No. 12.

Suitable Substrates
The substrate must be sound/stable, dry, clean, and free from all substances that may prevent good adhesion. In Germany: Follow VOB, part C, DIN 18363, section 3.Apply a suitable priming coat before surfacer application, depending on substrate requirements (see Technical Information No. 650). Roughen glossy, sound existing coatings previously.
Method of Application
Hand Application:
Stir the product thoroughly before use and apply with a stainless steel smoothing trowel (steel float).
Spray Application:
The use of high-performance spraying equipment is efficient and economic for coating walls and ceilings.
Covering Materials:
Wooden framework, fitting exactly and covered with a plastic foil, is suitable (well-proven) for door and window openings. Mask floors with strong covering material.
Work Flow:
Spray undiluted Akkordspachtel KF liberally to the full surface and level (smoothen) immediately with a suitable steel trowel. Akkordspachtel KF can be sanded after a short drying time. Due to a higher moisture resistance the product should be sanded within 7 days (highly efficient when sanded within the first two days).
Sanding meshes like "Abranet” (source of supply: Inc. Mirka) provide for a higher efficiency.
Suitable Spraying Equipment:
Akkordspachtel KF is applied with plaster conveyer or high-performance airless equipment. When airless guns are used, all filters should be removed. Well-proven nozzle size: 0.035” – 0.043”.
Spray guns with a higher discharge, recommended by the relative device manufacturer, should be used as airless guns to facilitate the application. Pressure: approx. 150 – 180 bar.
Surface Coating System
Subsequent Treatment:Allow smoothed surfaces to dry thoroughly. Akkordspachtel KF is recoatable with all suitable Caparol emulsion and latex paints or Capacryl acrylic enamels.
Apply one priming coat of Caparol-Haftgrund before applying Sylitol® interior paints, plastic compounds or glass fibre or textile wall coverings and wallpapers.
Apply one priming coat of Putzgrund 610 before applying synthetic (organic) plasters.
Consumption
Approx. 1.5 kg/m2 per mm of coating thickness.Application Conditions
Lower Temperature Limit for Application and Drying:+5 °C for substrate and ambient air.
> +10 °C for product during application.
Drying/Drying Time
Dries in approx. 12 – 48 hours, depending on building moisture, temperature and coating thickness.Note
Do not use Akkordspachtel KF for surfaces subjected to direct water loads (splash water) and in rooms with a permanent air moisture (humidity) > 70 %.Slight colour differences may occur due to the use of natural fillers.
Compact substrates with low absorbency may cause the forming of fine air pockets. After a short flash-off (airing) time they may be removed by repeated smoothing.
The point in time is depending on temperature and humidity on site. If fine air pockets reappear, the procedure has to be repeated.
On roughly textured substrates an additional smoothing process may be necessary.
Note: Due to a higher resistance (stability) of dry product the effort for sanding procedure may be increased.
Reworking gypsum filling compounds may lead to swelling, blistering and flaking due to long lasting moisture exposure. Provide for quick drying by sufficient ventilation and temperature. In Germany: Follow Data Sheet No. 2 "Verspachtelung von Gipsplatten" (Trowel Application on Plasterboards) issued by the German Association of Gypsum and Plasterboard Industry.
