White.Reibeputz can be tinted to a max. of 2 % with CaparolColor or AmphiColor® (AVA) colourants. Do not dilute before tinting. If more than one bucket is manually tinted, all material must be thoroughly mixed before use in order to avoid colour differences.
For coating small surfaces it is advisable to apply Reibeputz in white, followed by a coat of tinted Caparol paint. Quantities of 100 kg or more in individual colours can be ordered ready-tinted ex factory.
Reibeputz is tintable via the ColorExpress tinting & mixing machine system according to all current colour collections in pastel/light/bright colour shades to luminosity/lightness index (LI) approx. 70.

Suitable Substrates
The substrate must be sound/stable, dry, clean, and free from all substances that may prevent good adhesion. In Germany: Follow VOB, part C, DIN 18363, section 3.
Substrate Preparation
Plasters in Mortar Groups/Classes PII (Lime-Cement Mortars) and PIII (Cement Mortars) / Minimum Compressive Strength according to DIN EN 998-1 CS II:
Solid plasters with normal absorbency require no preliminary treatment. Prime highly porous, sanding or absorbent plasters with OptiGrund or CapaSol.
Gypsum Plasters and Ready-Mixed Gypsum Plasters in Mortar Group PIV / Minimum Compressive Strength according to DIN EN 13279: 2 N/mm2:
Sand surfaces with sintered skin and remove sanding dust. Prime with Tiefgrund TB.
Gypsum Wallboards:
Prime absorbent boards with OptiGrund or Tiefgrund TB.
Gypsum Plasterboards (Sandwich-Type Plaster Boards /Drywalls):
Sand down filler/mortar burrs, then remove all sanding dust. Prime and strengthen soft gypsum areas (repair patches) with Tiefgrund TB.
Apply one priming coat of Filtergrund grob (coarse) on boards containing water-soluble, discolouring substances that leave marks. Germany: Follow BFS-Merkblatt (Data Sheet) No. 12.
Concrete:
Remove all residues of separating agent (formwork oil residues) and chalking or sanding substances.
Autoclaved Aerated Concrete (AAC) / Cellular Concrete:
Prime with a 1:3 mixture of Capaplex and tap (potable) water. Smoothen the surface with filler Caparol-Akkordspachtel.
Hardboards/Fibreboards, Chipboards/Particleboards and Plywood Boards:
Sand the surface of waxed boards very thoroughly and remove all sanding dust. Apply one priming coat of Filtergrund grob (coarse).
Sound/Stable Existing Coatings:
Rework matt (flat), slightly absorbent coatings without pre-treatment. Roughen (sand) glossy surfaces and enamel coatings.
Unstable Existing Coatings:
Remove all unstable coatings of enamel and dispersion/emulsion paint or synthetic (organic) plaster. Prime highly porous, sanding or absorbent surfaces with OptiGrund or CapaSol. Remove unstable coats of mineral paint by mechanical means and remove all sanding dust. Apply one priming coat of Tiefgrund TB.
Glue-Bound Distemper (Limewater Colour/Paint):
Wash off the existing distemper very thoroughly, allow to dry and prime with Tiefgrund TB.
Wallpapers:
Remove existing wallpapers completely and wash off all residues of wallpaper paste/glue and waste paper. Prime the substrate with Tiefgrund TB.
Mildewed/Mouldy Surfaces:
Remove fungal (fungi/mildew/mould) attack by wet cleaning, then use Capatox or FungiGrund and allow to dry thoroughly. Prime according to substrate requirements. Follow legal/local and official regulations (e.g. Ordinance on Biocidal Agents and Ordinance on Hazardous Substances).
Surfaces Stained by Nicotine, Water, Soot or Fat/Grease:
Remove nicotine, soot or fat/grease stains by washing with tap water adding a fat-dissolving household detergent, then allow the surface to dry thoroughly. Clean dried-up water spots by dry brushing-off. Apply one insulating prime coat of Caparol-Filtergrund grob (coarse).
Small Defects:
After having completed the necessary preparations, repair small defects with Caparol-Akkordspachtel (filler) in accordance with our processing specification, and if necessary, prime subsequently.
Surface Coating System
Priming / Intermediate Coat:
Apply Putzgrund 610, tinted with CaparolColor or AmphiColor® (AVA) colourants to match the finishing coat in shade.
Finishing Coat:
Reibeputz, diluted to a max. of 2 % with tap (potable) water. Apply evenly in thickness of grain size with a stainless steel (smoothing/finishing) trowel and texture directly using a plastic trowel.
Clean tools immediately after use with water.
Consumption
- Reibeputz R15 for interior use: Approx. 1.8 - 2.1 kg/m2
- Reibeputz R20 for interior use: Approx. 2.3 - 2.7 kg/m2
- Reibeputz R30 for interior use: Approx. 3.6 - 4.0 kg/m2
- Putzgrund 610: Approx. 250 - 350 g/m2 on smooth substrates.
Determine the exact amount of material required by coating a test area on site.
Application Conditions
Low Temperature Limit for Application and Drying:
+8° C for product, substrate and ambient air.
Drying/Drying Time
At +20° C and 65 % relative humidity surface-dry after approx. 24 hours. Thoroughly dry (cured) and ready for stress after approx. 2 - 3 days. Lower temperatures and higher relative humidity extend the drying time.
Note
Being natural products, the quartz granules in Reibeputz may occasionally cause slight colour variation in the finishing coat. Only use product of same batch on seamless surfaces or, when plaster of different batches must be applied, mix the entire quantity needed in advance. To avoid lapping, the product should be applied wet-on-wet without interruption.
Due to the use of Tiefgrund TB in interiors, a typical solvent odour is released, hence proper ventilation must be provided during application and drying.
Use non-aromatic, low odour AmphiSilan-Putzfestiger in sensitive areas.
Reworking gypsum filling compounds may cause swelling, blistering and flaking due to long lasting moisture exposure. Provide for quick drying by sufficient ventilation and temperature.
Germany: Follow Data Sheet No. 2 "Verspachtelung von Gipsplatten" (Trowel Application on Plasterboards) issued by the German Association of Gypsum and Plasterboard Industry.
Spalling may occur when gypsum fillers are applied in thin layers. This risk can be minimised, if the product is used in combination with primer Putzgrund 610.

Please Note (Status as at Date of Publication)
Keep out of reach from children. Ensure good ventilation during use and drying. Do not eat, drink or smoke while using the product. In case of contact with eyes or skin, immediately and thoroughly rinse with water. Do not allow product to enter drains, waterways or soil. Clean utensils immediately after use with soap and water.Further information: See Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS).
Disposal
Materials and all related packaging must be disposed of in a safe way in accordance with the full requirements of the local authorities. Particular attention should be made to removing wastage from site in compliance with standard construction site procedures. In Germany: Only completely empty containers should be handed in for recycling. Dispose containers with residues of liquid product via waste collection point accepting old paints and enamels. Dispose dried/hardened product residues as construction site/demolition/municipal or domestic waste.
