Capadur RenoTech

Synthetic wood lacquer for opaque, protective coatings on
wooden component parts in outdoor areas.

  • LV Texte

    Field of Application

For colourful designing and moisture protection of dimensionally unstable wood, limited dimensionally stable wood and stable wood, e.g. wooden facades, claddings, balustrades, window shutters, gates, framework, shingles, windows and exterior doors.
One-pot system: For priming, intermediate and finishing coats on all wooden component parts.

In Germany: Follow BFS Data Sheet No. 18, section 2.2.3 et seq. for coating boards of wood-based materials, e.g. boards made of solid wood/timber or veneer plywood.
Note: On principle, cracks in veneer, delamination, fungal (fungi/mildew/mould) attack and seeping wood contents cannot be stopped with a coat of paint.

Capadur RenoTech is provided with a preservative against deterioration in the coating film due to fungal attack. Therefore the use of product is only permitted for outdoor areas and on the inner side of windows and exterior doors.

In spite of containing a film preservation, on boards made of wood-based materials (e.g. plywood, veneer plywood, laminated veneer lumber et al.) a durable protection against fungal attack cannot be guaranteed. A premature fungal attack must be taken into consideration, depending on the biological loads on site (even before lapse of commonly accepted warranty time).

Do not apply on horizontal surfaces/floors, such as terraces.

    Material Properties

    • Slightly film-forming.
    • High surface penetration and adhesion due to low-molecular-weight oils.
    • Ventilating (diffusion-capable) coating film.
    • Extremely high moisture protection due to hydrophobizing (Hydroperl)
    • One-pot coating system.
    • Sealing effect against discolouring wood contents.
    • Thixotropic, low-dripping viscosity.
    • Easy to renovate.
    • Suitable for use on heritage-protected wooden parts.
    • Protects the coating film surface temporarily against fungal attack.

    Suitable Substrates

Wooden parts of unstable shape, limited dimensionally stable wood and dimensionally stable wooden component parts in the field of building construction. Do not use on horizontal floors/surfaces.
The substrate must be clean, sound/stable, dry, and free from all substances that may prevent good adhesion. Max. permissible moisture content (WMC): 15 %.
Basic principles of wood preservation for constructions must be followed. They are a premise for long-lasting wood preservation with coating materials.
Germany: See BFS-Merkblatt (Data Sheet) No. 18.
Wooden component parts at risk of blue stain: Follow German standard VOB Part C, DIN 18363 and BFS-Merkblatt (Data Sheet) No. 18, section 6.3.

    Substrate Preparation

    New Wooden Parts:
Clean unplaned (rough sawn), absorbent wood/lumber surfaces.
Clean and sand/grind planed surfaces in fibre direction. Remove seeping wood contents, e.g. wood resin/rosin and resin galls/pitch pockets. Make sharp edges round to a radius of 2 to 3 mm.

    Untreated Existing Wood (Raw Wood):

Sand/grind off weathered (greyish) or blue stain attacked surfaces, until a stable, unstressed substrate is achieved and clean thoroughly. Make sharp edges round to a radius of 2 to 3 mm.
Advice: Use Capalac Holz-Imprägniergrund to achieve a strengthening effect and absorbency levelling impregnation of highly fissured and weathered surfaces.

    Defective Wooden Parts:
Replace defective parts previously or repair with the Capadur Repair System.
Use Capadur Repair H for the preparation of cross-grained wood, edges of boards and fissured wood surfaces.

    Coated Wood:
Carefully remove unstable or incompatible existing coatings (sand down) to the stable wood. Roughen (sand) the surface of alkyd lacquers/synthetic varnishes and remove all abrasive dust.

Please see our Capadur Holzchronograph ("wood chronograph") for the necessary care and maintenance of wood at regular intervals.

    Method of Application

Capadur RenoTech is ready-to-use for brush and roller application.
Capadur RenoTech ist provided with a preservative against deterioration in the coating film due to fungal (fungi/mildew/mould) attack. Thus the product can only be applied within closed constructions equipped with suitable exhaust system and protective masks (respiratory protective device).

Spraying exterior substrates is not permitted.
