Field of Application
Wood sealer (impregnation) with excellent protective effect against wood discolouring fungi (blue stain inhibiting primer) and with solidifying effect.Suitable for exterior wooden substrates, e.g. window-frames, front doors, boardings, fences, blockhouses, etc. Also permitted for interior use on outer windows and entrance doors.
Capalac Holz-Imprägniergrund protects exterior wood surfaces (not subjected to static loads and without any contact to the ground) from rot and blue stain.
Authorized biocide product in accordance with regulation (EU) 528/2012.

Suitable Substrates
Uncoated, absorbent wood surfaces. The substrate must be clean, sound/stable, dry and free from all substances that prevent good adhesion. The moisture content in dimensionally stable wood must not exceed 13 %. Limited dimensionally stable wood and wooden parts of unstable shape: max. 15 %. Capalac Holz-Imprägniergrund is only to be used in cases where wood protection is essential.
Basic principles of wood preservation for constructions must be followed. They are a premise for durable wood preservation with coating materials (In Germany: See BFS Data Sheet No. 18).
On wood, which is rich of wood constituents like larch, oak, various tropic wood or other hard wood, the drying time could be slown down. Wood constituents are essentially tannins, dyes or oils / waxes and resins.
Substrate Preparation
New Wooden Parts (Construction Elements):Sand/grind the surface in fibre direction, clean thoroughly and remove seeping substances of content, e.g. resins and resin-galls (pitch-pockets). Cut sharp edges. (see BFS data sheet No. 18)
Untreated Existing Wood:
Sand/grind off the aged, weathered (greyish) surface to obtain a sound/stable layer of wood and clean thoroughly. Cut sharp edges. (see BFS data sheet No. 18)
Method of Application
Capalac Holz-Imprägniergrund is suitable for brush or immersion application (dip coating). After drying time (min. 12 hours) a top coating with solvent-based Caparol glazes, wood paint or laquers is mandatory.Surface Coating System

Consumption
Approx. 80 to 100 ml/m2, depending on the absorbency of wood. For safe wood preservation, these consumption values should be followed.
Determine the exact amount of material required by coating a test area on site.
Application Conditions
Lower Temperature Limit for Application and Drying:
+ 5 °C for product, substrate and ambient air.
Relative humidity: ≤ 80%
Drying/Drying Time
At 20 °C and 65 % relative humidity touch dry after approximately 5 hours. Recoatable with solvent-based products after at least 12 hours. Lower temperatures and higher humidity extend the drying time. Wood with wood components, particularly tropical wood, may lead to delayed drying.Tool Cleaning
Immediately after use with thinner.
