Capalac BaseTop Gloss

The highly opaque window coating
  • LV Texte

    Field of Application

High-quality one pot enamel for priming, intermediate and finishing coats on dimensionally stable wooden parts and on wood with only limited dimensional stability (except timber framing and façade cladding) and primed metal, exteriors and interiors.

Ideally suitable for renovation on existing coatings without additional priming. On window folding shutters the use of protective paint Capadur Wetterschutzfarbe NQG/Matt is advisable. Do not use for garden and seating furniture. Do not apply white shades on heating systems to avoid yellowing
    (apply Capalac Heizkörperlack instead).
Due to a typical smell of alkyd resin enamels the use of Capacryl TriMaXX Venti or PU-Satin/Gloss instead of Capalac BaseTop Gloss is advisable for large-area treatment of interior surfaces.

    Material Properties

    • Diffusion-capable
    • High opacity (hiding/covering power) on surfaces and edges
    • High filling capacity
    • Fast drying
    • Excellent weather resistance due to silicone modified alkyd resin
    • Durable surface
    • Resistant to normal household cleaners

    Material Base / Vehicle

Silicone alkyd resin enamel with non-aromatic solvents.

    Packaging/Package Size

    Colours

White. Further colours available via the ColorExpress (Capalac mix) tinting machine system.

A product typical yellowing of painted surfaces may occur on white and light/bright colour shades caused by UV radiation, heat or chemical influences due to e.g. ammonia vapour from cleaning agents, adhesives, paint or sealing compounds. This does not represent any product defects and cannot be objected.

Colour Resistance according to BFS Data Sheet No. 26:
    Binder: Class B
Pigmentation: Group 1 to 3, depending on the colour.

    Suitable Substrates

    Primed wood and metal.
Do not apply on andonized aluminium.
Substrates must be clean, sound/stable, dry and free from all substances that may prevent good adhesion. Max. permissible moisture content of dimensionally stable wood: 13 %, parts with only limited dimensional stability: 15 %.

    Substrate Preparation

    Wooden Parts:
Sand the surface in fibre direction, clean thoroughly, remove seeping wood extractives, e.g. resins and resin galls, cut sharp edges (see BFS Data Sheet No. 18).

    Iron, Steel:
Derust to industry standard SA 2 ½ (blasting) or ST3 (mechanically) as per DIN EN ISO 12944-4.

    Aluminium (not anodised):
Clean with destined detergents, e.g. Gescha Multi-Star, then sand with a plastic abrasive fleece (see BFS Data Sheet No. 6)..

    Existing Coats of Paint:
Sand the surface of existing non-thermoplastic coats slightly and/or treat with alkali.

    Method of Application

Capalac BaseTop Gloss is ready-to-use and applicable with paint brush or roller. Stir well before use.
