Colours
White. The product is tintable via the ColorExpress (Capalac mix) machine system/stations in many special colours of colour collection Caparol 3D System plus and in many shades of other collections.
When using colour shades of low opacity (hiding/covering power), e.g. red, orange or yellow, it is advisable to apply a first (priming) coat of product, tinted in a matching priming system colour, available via ColorExpress.
Storage
Keep in a cool place.Keep the can always tightly closed.

Suitable Substrates
Uncoated and coated wooden parts. The substrate must be clean, sound/stable, dry, and free from all substances that may prevent good adhesion. Wood moisture content (WMC): Maximum permissible WMC of dimensionally stable wood: 13 %; limited dimensionally stable or unstable wood: 15 %Substrate Preparation
Wooden Parts:Sand the surface in fibre direction, clean thoroughly, remove seeping substances, e.g. wood resin/rosin and pitch/resin pockets, cut sharp edges (see BFS Data Sheet No.18).
Sound/Stable Existing Coatings:
Roughen (sand) the surface and/or treat with alkali. Remove unstable existing coatings.
Method of Application
Capalac GrundierWeiß is adjusted ready-to-use for brush application. Stir well before use and thin with 5 - 10 % of synthetic resin thinner or use Caparol AF-Verdünner (non-aromatic thinner), if necessary.Guidelines for Spray Application:

✱ Always apply two intermediate coats on dimensionally stable wooden parts, as per German BFS Data Sheet No. 18. 1) Only required for wood at risk of blue stain. |
Consumption
Approx. 100 ml/m2 per coat. Consumption is only a guide value and may vary, depending on substrate requirements. Determine the exact amount of material required by coating a test area on site.Application Conditions
Lower Temperature Limit for Application and Drying:+ 5 °C for product, substrate and ambient air.
Relative humidity must not exceed 80 %.
Drying/Drying Time
At 20 °C and 65 % relative humidity | dust dry | dry to touch | recoatable |
after hours | 2 - 3 | 4 - 5 | 24✱ |
Lower temperatures and higher humidity extend the drying time.
✱Respect a drying time of 2 - 3 days before applying finishing coats of Capacryl or Capadur enamels. The priming coat and the wooden substrate must be free of solvents in order to avoid blistering.
Tool Cleaning
Immediately after use with white spirit.
Note
Check the isolating property of Capalac GrundierWeiß before applying topcoats of waterborne enamels, e.g. Capacryl and Capadur Wetterschutzfarbe NQG.Special Risks (Hazard Note) / Safety Advice (Status as at Date of Publication)
Flammable liquid and vapour. If medical advice is needed, have product container or label at hand. Keep out of reach of children. Keep away from heat, hot surfaces, sparks, open flames and other ignition sources. No smoking. Use only outdoors or in a well-ventilated area. IF ON SKIN (or hair): Take off immediately all contaminated clothing. Rinse skin with water. Repeated exposure may cause skin dryness or cracking. Contains Fatty acids, C18-unsatd., dimers, reaction products with N,N-dimethyl-1,3-propanediamine and 1,3-propanediamine. May produce an allergic reaction. Use P2 dust filter for grinding. Do not breathe spray dust. Use A2/P2 combination filter for paint spraying.Disposal
Materials and all related packaging must be disposed of in a safe way in accordance with the full requirements of the local authorities. Particular attention should be made to removing wastage from site in compliance with standard construction site procedures. In Germany: Only completely empty clean can/containers should be handed in for recycling.
