    Suitable Substrates

Wood and derived timber products, iron and steel, zinc/galvanised surfaces, aluminium, copper, unplasticized (rigid) PVC, and sound existing paint coatings. Unsuitable for use on anodised aluminium.
The substrate must be clean, sound/stable, dry, and free from all substances that may prevent good adhesion.
Max. permissible moisture content in dimensionally stable wood: 13 %, in dimensionally unstable or only limited stable wooden parts: 15 %

Special advice for coating galvanised steel or sheet zinc:Always apply min. 2 coats of Capalac AllGrund on the thoroughly prepared surface, in order to prevent diminished adhesion of the following finishing coats  of alkyd enamels, caused by zinc oxyde.
Alternative treatment: Priming with Capalac 2K-EP-Haftgrund or Disbon 481 EP-Uniprimer is also possible.
Another tried and tested coating system for zinc/galvanised parts: Priming coat of Capacryl Haftprimer, followed by an intermediate and one finishing coat of Capacryl PU-Satin/Gloss.
For protective coatings on galvanised parts (duplex system according to standard DIN EN ISO 12944) Capalac Dickschichtlack or Capalac Aqua Metallschutz should be preferred.

    Substrate Preparation

    Wooden Parts:
Sand the surface in fibre direction, clean thoroughly, remove seeping wood contents, e.g. resins and resin galls, cut sharp edges (see BFS Data Sheet No. 18).

    Iron, Steel:
Derust according to industry standard SA 2 1/2 (blasting) or ST3 (mechanically) according to DIN EN ISO 12 944-4.

    Zinc/Galvanised Surfaces, Unplasticized (Rigid) PVC:
Wash with light ammonia solution using sanding pad/abrasive fabric according to BFS Data Sheet No. 5 and No. 22 or Gescha MultiStar with abrasive fabric. Sweep blasting.

    Aluminium (not anodised):
Clean with destined detergents, e.g. Gescha Multi-Star, then sand with a plastic abrasive fleece (see BFS Data Sheet No. 6).

    Copper:
Prepare with Gescha Multistar in a mixing ratio of 1:5, using synthetic sanding pad/abrasive fabric.

    Sound/Stable Existing Paint Coatings:
Roughen (sand) the surface of existing coatings slightly and/or treat with alkali. Remove unsound existing coatings.

    Method of Application

Apply Capalac AllGrund with paint brush, roller or spraying equipment. Stir well before use.
Thin with Caparol AF-Verdünner (non-aromatic), if necessary.
