Substrate Preparation

Masonry, concrete or firmly adhering coatings must be clean, dry and load-bearing. Contamination and substances with a separating effect (e.g. formwork oil) as well as protruding mortar burrs must be removed. Damaged, peeling old coats and textured plasters must be removed. Hollow areas of plaster must be chipped off and then rendered flush with the surface.

Highly absorbent, sanding or chalking surfaces must be thoroughly cleaned down to the solid substance and primed with Sylitol® RapidGrund 111.

Bituminous substrates must be sufficiently deaerated.

Application Conditions

Do not apply on moist substrates.

During application and in the drying phase, the ambient and substrate temperatures must not be below +5 °C and above +30 °C.

Do not apply in direct sunlight, strong wind, fog or high humidity. In this context, we refer to the leaflet "Verputzen bei hohen und tiefen Temperaturen" (Plastering at high and low temperatures) published by the Deutscher Stuckgewerbebund.

Drying/Drying Time

approx. 24-72 hours depending on temperature, layer thickness and relative humidity.

If fixing with dowels is necessary, this should only be carried out after sufficient consolidation of the adhesive bed, i.e. after approx. 1-2 days. The adhesive is fully dry and loadable after approx. 48-72 hours.

At 20 °C and 65 % relative humidity, the reinforcing layer is surface dry after approx. 24 hours.

"Capatect SockelFlex Carbon" dries by hydration and physically, i.e. by evaporation of the mixing water. Particularly in the cool season and at high humidity, therefore, a delayed drying is given. To protect against the effects of rain during the drying phase, cover the scaffold or plinth area with tarpaulins if necessary. Observe DIN 18550-1 and DIN 18350, VOB, Part C for application and execution.

Tool Cleaning

Immediately after use with water.

Material Preparation

Immediately before application, mix the powder and paste components of Capatect SockelFlex Carbon in a ratio of 1 : 1 and stir thoroughly with an electric stirrer until a homogeneous, lump-free consistency is obtained. Do not use water to make already stiffened material workable again.

Adjust to working consistency with max. 10 % water when used as a coating.

Do not mix more material than can be processed within 30 minutes at 20-25°C.

Application

Processing as adhesive
Capatect SockelFlex Carbon is bonded using the edge bead point method with at least 40 % adhesive contact area. In the case of flat substrates, the adhesive can also be applied over the entire surface using a 10 x 10 mm or 15 x 15 mm notched trowel on the substrate or on the insulation material. To avoid skin formation, only apply as much adhesive as can be directly covered with insulation boards. The insulation boards are bonded in a bond from bottom to top in a press-fit manner and pressed firmly to the substrate with light pushing movements.

Processing as base coat
Apply in a layer thickness of approx. 2 - 3 mm and comb through with a 10 x 10 mm notched trowel. Lay Capatect Gewebe 650 in open mortar bed overlapping by 10 cm and level.
In corner areas of building openings additionally embed "Capatect Diagonalarmierung 651/00" or mesh strips (25 x 25 cm) diagonally into the reinforcement.
Prime with "Putzgrund 610" before applying the top coat (render).
The following finishing coats are possible: "Capatect ThermoSan-Fassadenputz NQG", C"apatetct AmphiSilan Fassadenputz NQG und Fein, Capatect Buntstein-Sockelputz 691, Capatect Fassadenputz", "Capatect Fassadenputz Fein". "Capatect SockelFlex Carbon" can be overpainted with e.g. "ThermoSan" and "AmphiSilan".

Application as moisture protection
As a coating, dilute with max. 10 % water and apply by brush until saturated (consumption quantities must not be fallen short of). If the finishing coat/top coat (render) is applied to the ground, this area must be painted twice up to 5 cm above ground level. In the perimeter area, a protective layer (e.g. dimpled sheet with fleece) must be provided on site to protect against damage.
Apply as a filler layer in a layer thickness of at least 2 mm (consumption quantities must not be undercut).

Application as waterproofing under aluminum window sills
Install insulation board or insulation wedge according to window sill inclination of at least 5°. Apply the appropriate base coat including reinforcement mesh in the area of the window sill parapet and guide it up into the side reveal. Apply 2 coats of "Capatect SockelFlex Carbon" (min. 1 kg/m2 per coat) to form a trough-shaped sealing layer. Apply "Capatect SockelFlex Carbon" in the side reveal at least 2 cm or up to the height of the curb profile upstand. The window sill is fixed to the dried waterproofing by means of window sill adhesive "Capatect Kleber SP 350". The adhesive is applied in bead form at a distance of max. 30 cm in drainage direction of the window sill.
