    Suitable Substrates

The substrate must be sound/stable, dry, clean, and free from all substances that may prevent good adhesion. In Germany: Follow VOB, part C, DIN 18363, section 3.

    Substrate Preparation

Apply a suitable priming coat before surfacer application, depending on substrate requirements (see Technical Information No. 650). Roughen glossy, stable existing coatings previously.

    Method of Application

Applicable with paint roller, stainless smoothing trowel or suitable spray equipment.

Stir AkkordRollspachtel thoroughly, then apply either with a standard short pile paint/lambswool roller (13 - 16 mm piles), smoothing trowel or spray equipment and spread evenly. Level the surface directly (in wet condition) with smoothing trowel or spreading knife/wiper/squeegee. For coating large/seamless surfaces one craftsman should apply the material and a second craftsman should smoothen the surface, wet-on-wet. Allow to dry, then pre-wet and use a felt float or sand in dry condition.

    Suitable Spray Equipment:
AkkordRollspachtel is applied with plaster spray equipment or powerful airless equipment.
When airless guns are used, all filters must be removed.
    Nozzle size: 0.035” – 0.045”
    Pressure: approx. 150 – 180 bar
Spray guns with a higher discharge, recommended by the respective manufacturer, can be used as airless guns for an easier surfacer application. For optimised application conditions a minimum temperature limit of +10 °C is required.

    Surface Coating System

    Subsequent Treatment:
Thoroughly dry surfaces, levelled with AkkordRollspachtel, can be primed with Haftgrund or CapaSol and are then coatable/compatible with all suitable Caparol emulsion and latex paints, Sylitol Bio-Innenfarbe or Capacryl acrylic enamels, plastic compounds or glass fibre wall coverings and wallpapers.

Prime with Putzgrund 610 before applying synthetic (organic) plasters.

Approx. 1.2 kg/m2 per mm of layer (coating) thickness.

    Application Conditions

Lower Temperature Limit for Application and Drying:
+5 °C for product, substrate and ambient air.

    Drying/Drying Time

Dries in approx. 12 - 48 hours, depending on building moisture, temperature and layer/coating thickness.

Do not use AkkordLeichtspachtel for damp locations. Slight colour differences may occur due to the use of natural fillers.
Dense/compact substrates with low absorbency may cause the forming of fine air pockets (blistering). After a short flash-off (airing) time they may be removed by repeated smoothing. The point in time is depending on temperature and humidity on site. If fine air pockets reappear, the procedure has to be repeated.
On coarse, roughly textured substrates it may be necessary to repeat the surfacing procedure to obtain a smooth/even surface.
When reworking gypsum containing fillers/surfacers a long-lasting exposure to moisture may cause swelling, blistering or spalling. Hence, ensure for quick drying by proper ventilation and sufficient temperature.
In Germany: Follow Data Sheet No. 2 "Filling Plasterboards”, issued by German Federation of the Plasterboards Industry.
