Note

Due to the chemical setting, coloured "Capatect Sylitol® Fassadenputze" may dry cloudy depending on the weather. This does not represent a technical-functional defect and cannot be objected to. In order to avoid colour irregularities, coloured rendered surfaces must be additionally coated with a corresponding facade paint, e.g. "Sylitol® NQG" or "Sylitol® Finish 130" in the render colour shade.

Substrate Preparation

The substrate must be even, clean, dry, sound, stable and free from all substances that may prevent good adhesion. In Germany follow VOB, part C, DIN 18 363, section 3.

Remove all non-stable varnish, emulsion paint or synthetic resin render coatings as well as non-stable mineral coatings. Clean adherent coatings dry or wet.

Clean surfaces affected by mould, moss or algae using pressurised water jets, observing the legal regulations. Wash with Capatox and allow the surfaces to dry thoroughly. Clean surfaces soiled by industrial fumes or soot with pressurised water jets, using suitable cleaning agents and observing the legal regulations.

Method of Application

Apply the render over the entire surface with a stainless steel trowel or a suitable fine render spraying machine and scrape off to grain size. Immediately afterwards, use a plastic trowel or a PU board to evenly round off the scratched renders, and texture the scraped renders horizontally, vertically or round as desired. The choice of tool influences the roughness profile of the surface, therefore always work with the same texturing discs.

When spraying, the nozzle to be selected depends on the grain size. (Nozzle size = grain size x 4) The working pressure should be 0.3-0.4 MPa (3-4 bar). When spraying, particular care should be taken to ensure an even application of material and to avoid overlapping at the scaffold layers.

To achieve a uniform texture, contiguous surfaces should always be applied by the same craftsman to avoid texture deviations due to different "handwriting". To avoid lapping, a sufficient number of workers should be employed on each scaffold layer and work should be carried out quickly, wet on wet.

Due to the use of natural aggregates, slight colour variations are possible. Therefore, only apply material of the same production number on continuous surfaces or mix material of different production numbers beforehand. "Capatect Sylitol® Fassadenputz" is not suitable for horizontal surfaces exposed to water.

Surface Coating System

Primer or intermediate coats must be dry before further recoating.

Capatect ETICS:
New mineral base coats: No primer coat required.
Prime base coats weathered by prolonged standing time (e.g. wintering) with PutzGrund 610.

Base coats of mortar group PIc, PII and PIII:
New renders can be coated after sufficient standing time, usually after 2 weeks, at approx. 20 °C and 65 % relative humidity. In unfavourable weather conditions, e.g. influenced by wind or rain, significantly longer standing times must be observed. An additional priming coat of "CapaGrund Universal" reduces the risk of lime efflorescence, so that the finishing render can be coated after a standing time of only 7 days.
New renders: Leave untreated for 2-4 weeks. Prime with "Minera Universal".
Render surface coarsely porous, sandy, absorbent: Prime with "Sylitol® RapidGrund 111", diluted 2:1 with water. Intermediate coat with Minera Universal.

Sound mineral coatings:
Firmly adhering coatings: Clean dry or wet. Prime with "Minera Universal".

After removal of non-sticking coatings: Prime with "Sylitol® RapidGrund 111", diluted 2:1 with water. Intermediate coat with Minera Universal.

Following paint coatings:
Rendered surfaces can be additionally coated with an appropriate facade paint, e.g. "Sylitol® NQG" or "Sylitol® Finish 130". If colour shades with a lightness value < 20 are desired for design reasons, these must be created by painting twice over with "Muresko CoolProtect".

Application Conditions

During The application and in the drying phase, the ambient and substrate temperatures must not be below +5 °C and above +30 °C.

Do not apply in direct sunlight, strong wind, fog or high humidity. In this context, we refer to the leaflet "Verputzen, Wärmedämmen, Spachteln, Beschichten bei hohen und tiefen Temperaturen" (Rendering, Thermal Insulation, Filling, Coating at High and Low Temperatures) from the Bundesverband Ausbau und Fassade (Federal Association for Finishing and Facades).

Drying/Drying Time

At 20 °C and 65 % relative humidity, the render is surface-dry after 24 hours. Fully dry, loadable and paintable after 2 - 3 days.

The render dries by chemical reaction and physically, i.e. by silicification with the substrate and evaporation of the mixing water. Particularly in the cool season and with high humidity, drying is therefore delayed. If necessary, cover the scaffold with tarpaulins to protect it from rain during the curing phase.

Tool Cleaning

Immediately after use with water.

Material Preparation

Thoroughly stir the contents of the container with a slow-running agitator. If necessary, dilute with "Sylitol® RapidGrund 111" to adjust the consistency; addition max. 2 %.
Do not use aluminium whisks for stirring, otherwise there is a risk of discolouration.

Special Risks (Hazard Note) / Safety Advice (Status as at Date of Publication)

If medical advice is needed, have product container or label at hand. Keep out of reach of children. Warning! Hazardous respirable droplets may be formed when sprayed. Do not breathe spray or mist.

Disposal

Materials and all related packaging must be disposed of in a safe way in accordance with the full requirements of the local, regional, national and international authorities.
In Germany: Only completely emptied containers must be given for recycling. Dispose containers with residues of liquid product via waste collection point accepting old paints and enamels. Dispose dried/hardened product residues as construction site/demolition/municipal or domestic waste.
