Packaging/Package Size

25 kg bucket

Colours

White

Tintable ex works according to colour fan CaparolColor or Caparol 3D System. In-can-tinting via ColorExpress system. Further individual colours with luminosity > 20 on request. Luminosity < 20  is unsuitable for use within ETICS systems. Small quantities can be tinted with Sylitol colourants (max. 2-3 % to avoid low consistency).

Shades with luminosity down to 15 (not on ETICS) are possible by using Sylitol-Finish 130 as additional paint coat.

Tinted Sylitol renders may form visible non uniform effects after drying, due to chemical setting and depending on weather conditions. The efficiency of the coating will not be affected by these changes and this effect cannot be objected. To avoid colour irregularities all tinted render finishes must be painted with an additional coat of Sylitol-Finish 130, tinted in the same colour shade.

Substrate Preparation

The substrate must be even, clean, dry, sound, stable and free from all substances that may prevent good adhesion. In Germany follow VOB, part C, DIN 18 363, section 3.
Remove all existing coatings of enamels, emulsion paints, synthetic renders and unstable mineral paint coatings. Clean adherent paint coatings dry or wet.
Clean surfaces infested with organic growth (fungi, algae etc.) with a high-pressure cleaner, in compliance with local regulations. Use Capatox and allow to dry thoroughly.
Clean surfaces contaminated with industrial pollution (factory fumes) or soot by high-pressure cleaner and suitable detergent, in compliance with the regulations.
Allow repairs to fully dry and harden, then treat with a fluosilicate and rinse thoroughly. For large repaired areas it is essential to treat the full surface (existing and new renders/plasters).

Method of Application

Stir Sylitol-Fassadenputz thoroughly with a low-speed stainless steel agitator. If necessary adjust to working consistency with Sylitol-Konzentrat (max. 2 % of concentrate).
Note: Do not use tools made of aluminium - risk of staining!

Apply textured render evenly to the full surface using stainless steel trowel or suitable spraying equipment. Rub off directly to the grain size and take off excessive slurry. Treat K-type render evenly with a plastic trowel, PU- or EPS-board by circularly "ironing". Groove the R-type render horizontally, vertically or circularly with a plastic trowel, as desired. The surface roughness is influenced by the chosen tool, hence always the same type of texturing tool should be used.

Spray application: The nozzle size depends on grain sizes. Working pressure: 0.3 to 0.4 MPa (3 to 4 bar). Provide for an even (uniform) coat, avoiding noticeable overlap that may be caused by storeys of scaffolding.

Always the same craftsmen should finish seamless surfaces to obtain an even texture. To avoid lapping on large area surfaces, care should be taken to have a sufficient number of craftsmen on the job and to apply the material wet-on-wet without interruption.

Due to the use of natural granules and fillers a slight colour variation in the finished coating may occur. Use only product of same batch, when coating seamless surfaces, or (if using product from different batches) mix the entire quantity in advance.

Surface Coating System

Putzgrund 610 has to be tinted in the same colour shade as primer before applying tinted render/plaster. Priming and/or intermediate coat must be fully dry before further application.

Capatect-ETICS Systems B and Natur +

  • New reinforcement layers based on mineral mortars:  No priming required.
  • New cement-free reinforcement layers: Prime with Putzgrund 610.
  • Under all tinted renders: Prime reinforcement with tinted Putzgrund 610.
  • Weathered reinforcement layers (e.g. after winter break): Prime with Putzgrund 610.

All other substrates: See Technical Information "Untergründe und deren Vorbehandlung" / "Substrates and their Pretreatment"

Application Conditions

Processing Temperature:
+ 8 °C to approx. + 30 °C for product, substrate and ambient air during application and curing.
Do not apply in direct sunlight, during strong wind, fog, high relative humidity, and imminent rain or frost.

Drying/Drying Time

At 20 °C and 65 % RH: Cured, recoatable and ready for stress normally after 2 weeks. Adverse weather conditions (e.g. wind and rain) extend the drying time.
Additional priming with CapaGrund Universal decreases the risk of efflorescence. Allow this primer to cure within 7 days before further processing with Sylitol-Fassadenputz.

The render dries by chemical reaction, i.e. by silicification with the substrate and evaporation of water. Drying time is extended by low temperature and high RH. Cover the scaffoldings with tarpaulins to protect the surface from rain and wind during the curing phase.

Tool Cleaning

Immediately after use with water and soap.
Do not breathe haze and splash. Sylitol-Fassadenputz is strongly alkaline.

Note: Sylitol - Fassadenputz offers at normal load the necessary basic protection against algae or fungi. If a further preventive protection is desired, a double coat with Sylitol NQG-W or ThermoSan has to be applied.
Note:
Do not apply Sylitol-Fassadenputz on horizontal surfaces exposed to rain or moisture.

Please Note (Status as at Date of Publication)

Keep out of reach from children. Ensure good ventilation during use and drying. Do not eat, drink or smoke while using the product. In case of contact with eyes or skin, immediately and thoroughly rinse with water. Do not allow product to enter drains, waterways or soil. Clean utensils immediately after use with soap and water.

Due to its potassium silicate content, the reaction of silicate based coatings is alkaline. Wash splashes immediately and completely with plenty of clean water. Do not breathe spray dust.

Disposal

Materials and all related packaging must be disposed of in a safe way in accordance with the full requirements of the local authorities.
In Germany: Only completely emptied containers must be given for recycling. Dispose containers with residues of liquid product via waste collection point accepting old paints and enamels. Dispose dried/hardened product residues as construction site/demolition/municipal or domestic waste.
