Suitable Substrates

The substrate must be sound (stable, hardened), dry, clean and free from all substances that may prevent good adhesion. In Germany: Follow VOB, part C, DIN 18363, paragraph 3.

ETICS/EWI System NEW (only System B):

Thermal insulation board: Capatect-Dalmatiner Fassadendämmplatte 160 (EPS).

Reinforcement layer according to certification: Capatect-Klebe und Spachtelmasse 190, Capatect ZF-Spachtel 699 or CarbonSpachtel.

Finishing render/plaster: ThermoSan or AmphiSilan-Fassadenputz in usual graining according to Technical Information.

Priming coat: Roller-applied EffektGrund (see "Method of Application").

ETICS/EWI System OLD:  Please contact your local Caparol consultant/technical adviser.

Substrate Preparation

Follow Technical Information No. 650 concerning the suitability of different substrates and their preparation.

Method of Application

Stir up very thoroughly before use. Apply with paint brush, roller or suitable spraying equipment. Trimming areas should be rolled again.
Use medium pile rollers (pile height: 12-16 mm) without tendency of material accumulation in their border area.

Texture coats of EffektGrund on even surfaces by paint brush in order to avoid noticeable roller marks in the finished coating.

Airless application: Stir and sieve well before applying.
Spray angle: 50°   Nozzle: 0.023 - 0.027"   Spray gun pressure: 150 - 180 bar
Plug-in type filter: 0.31 mm

Thinning

Apply EffektGrund in undiluted form. The product is adjustable to application consistency up to a max. of 3 % with tap (potable) water, if necessary.

Consumption

Approx. 150 - 200 ml/m² on an even surface. On rough-textured surfaces correspondingly more.
The exact rate of consumption is best established by a trial coating on site.

Application Conditions

Lower Temperature Limit for Application and Drying:
+5 °C for product, ambient air and substrate.

Drying/Drying Time

At +20 °C and 65 % relative humidity recoatable after 12 hours. Lower temperatures, higher humidity and increased quantities of applied product extend the drying time.

Tool Cleaning

Clean tools (paint brushes/rollers) and airless equipment immediately after use with tap water.

Note

Do not use EffektGrund on horizontal surfaces exposed to water and moisture.

Keep out of the reach of children. In case of contact with eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water. Do not breathe spray dust. Do not empty into drains, water courses or onto the ground.

Disposal

Materials and all related packaging must be disposed of in a safe way in accordance with the full requirements of the local authorities. Particular attention should be made to removing wastage from site in compliance with standard construction site procedures.
In Germany: Only completely emptied containers should be given for recycling. Dispose containers with residues of liquid material as remnants of water-based paints and dried material as hardened paints waste or via domestic waste.

EU limit value for the VOC content

of this product (category A/a): max. 30 g/l (2010). This product contains max. 30 g/l VOC.
