Capadecor Metallocryl Interior

Suitable Substrates

The substrate must be sound/stable, dry, clean, and free from all substances that may prevent good adhesion. Follow VOB, part C, DIN 18363, section 3.

Substrate Preparation

The way of substrate preparation depends on present substrates and their condition. Follow Technical Information Amphibolin for covering surfaces with Metallocryl Interior.

Method of Application

The product should be stirred thoroughly before and during application at regular intervals.

Apply with paint brush or roller. Areas of trimming should be rolled again. For roller application a medium pile roller should be used (pile height 12-16 mm), that prevents accumulation of paint on the margins.

In order to ensure a uniform orientation of effect pigmentation (aluminium mica), apply the product evenly, spread crosswise and then roll in one direction.
On even (smooth/untextured) surfaces a uniform metallic effect coating of Metallocryl Interior cannot be effected without leaving noticeable brush or roller marks.

Highly appealing surfaces are achievable on smooth/even substrates, when Capadecor Metallocryl Interior is evenly roller applied and then directly treated (crosswise) with an oval brush or using the special ArteTwin trowel.
Spray application may lead to a clouding effect (blushing) and uneven gloss level due to spray mist, and is therefore not suggested.

Capadecor Metallocryl Interior can be used on textured surfaces with a grain size of approx. 2 mm or more, without further treatment via brush or trowel.
Smooth/even, fine-textured substrates and surfaces with adverse lighting conditions (grazing light) cannot be coated without leaving noticeable roller marks or a slightly "cloudy" appearance (blushing).

Additional appealing effects are achievable, when Capadecor Metallocryl Interior is used as intermediate coat before applying Capadecor ArteLasur or ArteLasur Color.

Surface Coating System

Intermediate Coat:
Capadecor Metallocryl Interior contains special effect pigments. Alkaline and acidal influences may cause discolouration, particularly in combination with high exposure to moisture. Therefore the application of an additional sealing coat of Disbon 481 EP-Uniprimer on alkaline, nonabsorbent substrates is essential (Follow Technical Information No. 481).

Apply one hiding intermediate coat of Amphibolin, tinted in a shade of Caparol 3D System plus, closely matched to the colour of the subsequent coat of Capadecor Metallocryl Interior (Follow Technical Information No. 100 / Amphibolin).

Do not use other products for intermediate coats.

Finishing Coats:
Apply two undiluted (or diluted max. 5 %) finishing coats of Capadecor Metallocryl Interior.

Semi-Transparent/Translucent Coat on Capadecor Fantastic Fleece:
Only the quartz textured pattern "Lino" and "Tira" can be coated. Apply one even coat of Capadecor Metallocryl Interior, diluted to a max. of 10 % with tap (potable) water.

Covering Coat on Capaver ElementEffects:
The intermediate coat of Amphibolin may be omitted, when using the new quality (2013) of Metallocryl Interior on Capaver ElementEffects.
Some critical colour shades (with a high addition of colourants) may require a third coat of Metallocryl Interior.

Apply Metallocryl with short pile roller (liberally) and spread crosswise. Then roll over the surface again, in one direction using the paint roller without product. Trimmings must always be rolled over again. Always apply Metallocryl wet-on-wet.

Consumption

Approx. 100 ml/m² per coat on textured substrates. On rough-textured surfaces correspondingly more. The exact consumption is best established by a trial coating (test area) on site.

Application Conditions

Lower Temperature Limit for Application and Drying:
+5 °C for product, substrate and ambient air.

Drying/Drying Time

At +20 °C and 65 % relative humidity surface-dry and recoatable after 4 - 6 hours.
Lower temperatures and higher relative humidity extend the drying time.

Tool Cleaning

Clean tools immediately after use with water.

Note

Do not apply Capadecor Metallocryl Interior on horizontal surfaces exposed to water/moisture.
Do not mix with other materials to preserve the special properties of this product.
To avoid lapping, the product should be applied wet-on-wet and without interruption.
Due to the use of Caparol-Tiefgrund TB in the interiors, a typical solvent odour is released, hence proper ventilation must be provided during application and drying. Use non-aromatic, low-odour AmphiSilan-Putzfestiger in sensitive areas.

German Certificates

• Testing of resistance to disinfectants
• Chamber test according to AgBB schema
• Testing of fire protection classification according to German standard DIN 4102: A2 "nicht brennbar" (non-combustible), when used on solid mineral substrates.
• General appraisal certificate: Fire protection classification according to German standard DIN 4102: B1 "schwer entflammbar" (flame retardant/of low flammability).

Keep out of reach from children. Ensure good ventilation during use and drying. Do not eat, drink or smoke while using the paint. In case of contact with eyes or skin, immediately and thoroughly rinse with water. Do not allow product to enter drains, waterways or soil. Clean utensils immediately after use with soap and water. Do not inhale spray dust. Contains 1,2-benzisothiazol-3(2H)-one, 2-methyl-2H-isothiazol-3-one. Further information: See Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS).

Disposal

Materials and all related packaging must be disposed of in a safe way in accordance with the full requirements of the local authorities. Particular attention should be made to removing wastage from site in compliance with standard construction site procedures.
In Germany: Only completely emptied containers must be given for recycling. Dispose containers with residues of liquid product via waste collection point accepting old paints and enamels. Dispose dried/hardened product residues as construction site/demolition/municipal or domestic waste.

EU limit value for the VOC content

of this product (category A/b): max. 100 g/l (2010). This product contains < 1 g/l VOC.
