Suitable Substrates
The substrate must be sound/stable, dry, clean, and free from all substances that may prevent good adhesion. In Germany: Follow VOB, part C, DIN 18363, section 3.Substrate Preparation
The type of substrate preparation depends on the existing substrate and its condition. The relevant technical information must therefore be observed.
Transparent colours are decisively influenced by the colour tone, absorbency and condition of the substrate, the layer thickness and degree of dilution of the glaze, the tools used and the individual style of the applicator. For this reason, samples are essential.
Method of Application
Suitable tools for applying DecoLasur Matt: Paint brushes (do not use brand new brushes), stippling brushes, natural sponges or clean clothes. Tool selection depends on the desired glazing technique.Surface Coating System
Intermediate Coat:The intermediate coat for glazing techniques must always be evenly opaque. Visible marks or roll marks are also visible after further treatment with DecoLasur.
Capadecor DecoGrund is suitable as an intermediate coat for smooth substrates and MultiStruktur for textured substrates. Matt interior emulsion paints are only suitable to a limited extent due to their absorbency (risk of build-up). The suitability of the emulsion paint must therefore be checked in advance. Always rework the intermediate coat for glazing techniques with a brush to avoid visible roller streaks.
The surfaces to be glazed must be free of colour contrasts and evenly absorbent after the intermediate coat.
Finishing Coat:
Apply 1 to 3 glaze coats of DecoLasur Matt, tinted via ColorExpress or with CCaparolColor Vollton- und Abtönfarben. DecoLasur Matt can be adjusted to application viscosity/consistency to a max. of 20 % with tap water.
Consumption
Approx. 90-120 ml/m2 for one coat. This consumption increases depending on the absorbency and structure of the substrate.
These consumption figures are approximate values. The exact consumption must be determined by test coating directly on the object.
Application Conditions
Lower Temperature Limit for Application and Drying:+ 5 °C for product, substrate and ambient air.
Drying/Drying Time
Depending on the glazing technique used, apply wet-on-wet or allow a drying time of max. 12 hours between coats. Cool and moist weather conditions extend the drying time correspondingly.Tool Cleaning
Immediately after use with water, adding a detergent (washing-up liquid), if necessary.Note
Do not apply on horizontal surfaces exposed to moisture/water loads.Brush application is recommended for applying priming and intermediate coats to avoid roller marks.
