Suitable Substrates
The substrate must be sound/stable, dry, clean, and free from all substances that may prevent good adhesion. In Germany: Follow VOB, part C, DIN 18363, section 3.Substrate Preparation
Substrate preparation always depends on substrate requirements, hence follow the corresponding Technical Information.Design Note:
Wall glazes are semi-transparent/translucent materials. They are highly influenced by colour shade, absorbency and condition of the existing substrate, furthermore by the film thickness of glaze (scumbling) coat and degree of dilution, tools used and individual application technique of the craftsman. Therefore a trial application (test area/specimen) on site is essential.
A high contrasting effect is achievable by applying a darkly tinted glaze on a light-coloured intermediate coat.
Method of Application
Suitable tools for applying DecoLasur Matt: Paint brushes (do not use brand new brushes), stippling brushes, natural sponges or clean clothes. Tool selection depends on the desired glazing technique.Surface Coating System
Intermediate Coat:Apply the intermediate coat very thoroughly to obtain a proper surface with an even opacity. Visible lapping or paint roller marks must be avoided (cannot be masked by a glaze coat of DecoLasur).
Use Capadecor DecoGrund for intermediate coat on smooth substrates. Apply MultiStruktur to achieve a textured substrate.
Matt interior dispersion/emulsion paints are only limited suitable, due to their absorbtion capacity (risk of lapping) and must previously be checked for suitability.
Always use a brush and wipe over the surface to avoid any visible roller marks.
After having finished the intermediate coat the full surface to be treated must be free of colour contrast and evenly absorbent.
Finishing Coat:
Apply 1 to 3 glaze coats of DecoLasur Matt, tinted via ColorExpress or with CaparolColor colourants. DecoLasur Matt can be adjusted to application viscosity/consistency to a max. of 20 % with tap (potable) water.
Finishing Coat on FantasticFleece:
Adjust DecoLasur Matt to application consistency with an exact amount of 15 % tap (potable) water to obtain a sufficiently long open time. Follow the corresponding Technical Information.
Tinting is only possible via the ColorExpress system (collection CD FantasticFleece). Do not use colourants.
For extremely intensive colour shades on FantasticFleece our product DecoLasur Glänzend (Gloss) should be used to achieve a longer open time.
Consumption
Approx. 80 - 100 ml/m2 per coat. Consumption may be increased, depending on substrate requirements (absorbency and texture).Consumption data are only guidelines. Determine the exact amount of material required by coating a test area on site.
Consumption on FantasticFleece: Approx. 140 - 180 ml/m2 per coat. Determine the exact amount of material required by coating a test area on site.
Application Conditions
Lower Temperature Limit for Application and Drying:+ 5 °C for product, substrate and ambient air.
Drying/Drying Time
Depending on the glazing/scumbling technique used, apply wet-on-wet or allow a drying time of max. 12 hours between coats. Cool and moist weather conditions extend the drying time correspondingly.Tool Cleaning
Immediately after use with water, adding a detergent (washing-up liquid), if necessary.Note
Do not apply on horizontal surfaces exposed to moisture/water loads.Brush application is recommended for applying priming and intermediate coats to avoid roller marks.
