Suitable Substrates
Coated and uncoated wooden ceilings, interiors. Check previously for adhesion, sufficient effectiveness against seeping wood contents and compatibility by coating a test area on site. The substrate must be clean, sound/stable, dry, and free from all substances that
may prevent good adhesion. Max. permissible wood moisture content (WMC): 12 %.
Sealing of seeping wood components cannot be guaranteed in each case. Discolouration may occur in individual cases even when applying two coats of product, if highly soluble wood components are present. Hence it is always advisable to check for sufficient sealing power by coating a test area on site, particularly for tropical wood and wood/timber with a higher number of knots.
Substrate Preparation
Uncoated Wooden (Timber) Ceilings:Sand the surface in fibre direction, clean thoroughly, remove seeping wood contents, e.g. wood resin/rosin and resin galls (pitch/resin pockets).
Wooden Ceilings with Existing Coatings:
Carefully sand the surface of existing wood stain and enamel coatings. Remove all non-adherent (unstable) coatings.
Note:
Interior wooden ceilings may be subjected to moisture expansion and shrinking, due to moisture alterations of the room air. Particularly during the heating period some uncoated areas may become visible, that have previously been covered. Wooden components with a direct contact, e.g. wood with tongue and groove, may show a blocking effect. Two or more wooden boards can be sticked together by the enamel and cracks may occur in the area of tongues or within boards in case of an alternating room moisture. This effect is technically unavoidable.
Method of Application
Apply Capadur Holzdeckenfarbe in undiluted form, using special brushes for acrylic enamels, short pile enamel roller, airless spray or apply on small surfaces via Wagner XVLP FinishControl and Caparol NAST-Frontend.
Guidelines for Spray Application:
