Field of Application
For impregnating priming coats on dimensionally stable wood, e.g. windows and doors.
For wood/wooden parts with limited dimensional stability, e.g. shutters, gates, panelling with tongue and groove, framework, etc., and for wooden parts of unstable shape, e.g. fences, shingles, balustrades, pergolas, etc.
Capacryl Holz SchutzGrund is used for preventive protection against wood-discoloring fungi (e.g.blue stain fungi) and rot on wooden components without ground contact in exterior areas. For the protection of structural timber components subject to static loads against rot and insect infestation, specially approved wood preservatives must be used.
Only for exterior use. Front doors and windows are allowed to be all-side protected with Capacryl Holz SchutzGrund
Authorized biocidal product according to Regulation (EU) 528/2012.

Suitable Substrates
Uncoated, dimensionally stable wood, wood with limited dimensional stability and wooden parts of unstable shape. The substrate must be clean, sound/stable, dry, and free from all substances that may prevent good adhesion. The moisture content in dimensionally stable wood (WMC) must not exceed 13 %. Limited dimensionally stable wood and wooden parts of unstable shape: max. 15 %. Basic principles of wood preservation for constructions must be followed. They are a premise for long-lasting wood preservation with coating materials.Substances of content in some types of wood, e.g. larch, oak, tropical wood or other hardwood may lead to delayed drying. Typical substances: Tanning agents, dyestuffs/colourants/pigments, oils/waxes and natural resins/rosins.
Substrate Preparation
Sand/grind surfaces in the direction of fibres, clean thoroughly, remove all seeping substances of content, e.g. resins/rosins and resin-galls, cut sharp edges. Germany: See BFS-Merkblatt (Data/Fact Sheet) No. 18.Surface Coating System
Substrate | Use | Substrate Preparation | Impregnation | Priming Coat | Intermediate Coat | Finishing Coat |
Limited stable and unstable wooden parts | exterior | BFS Data Sheet No. 18 | Capacryl Holz SchutzGrund | Capacryl Holz-IsoGrund1) | Capadur Wetterschutzfarbe NQG/Matt | Capadur Wetterschutzfarbe NQG/Matt |

1) Always apply Capacryl Holz-IsoGrund on wood with content of water-soluble, brownish discolouring substances (2x on knots). |
Consumption
Approx. 80 - 100 ml/m2 per coat, depending on the substrate's absorbency.Apply min. 120 - 140 ml/m2 for efficient wood preservation.
Given consumption are only reference values and may vary, depending on substrate requirements. Determine the exact amount of material required by coating a test area on site.
Application Conditions
■ Material, circulating air and substrate temperature: min. 8 °C (favorable range: 10 to 25 °C).
■ Relative humidity: ≤ 70 %.
Drying/Drying Time
At 20 °C and 65 % relative humidity. | dry to handle | recoatable |
Hours | 2 | 24 |
Lower temperatures and higher humidity extend the drying time.
Tool Cleaning
Clean tool after use with water and wetting agent, e.g. Gescha MultiStar. We recommend
the wearing of nitrile gloves.
