Suitable Substrates
Facade components made of coil coated metal sheets, galvanised sheet steel, zinc plates/sheets, aluminium sheets (Note: Do not apply on anodised aluminium), sheet copper, and rigid PVC, concrete and cement render/plaster. Due to rapid surface drying of Capalac Disbocolor 493 blistering/bubble formation may be caused through pores beneath the surface of concrete and cement render/plaster. This is physically unavoidable but does not affect the functionality of the coating.Do not use Capalac Disbocolor for roofing. The substrate must be dry, sound/stable, solid, and free from all substances that may prevent good adhesion.
Substrate Preparation
Sand and clean the primered surface.
Existing Coatings (e.g. Coil Coating):
Check for soundness and compatibility with Capalac Disbocolor 493. Clean stable substrates, e.g. with a high-pressure water-jet, removing all chalking substances. Remove unstable coatings by suitable means.
Method of Application
Capalac Disbocolor 493 is applied with a short pile roller for enamel coatings. The material is ready-for-use, but should be stirred well before applying. The product cannot be applied via Spray Application!

1) | Pretreat damaged spots of existing paint coatings according to the respective substrate. |
2) | An additional intermediate coat may be required for dark or deviant coloured substrates and colour shades of low opacity, e.g. yellow, red or orange. |
Note: On powder coatings, coil-coated layers and other critical subtrates, adhesion must be tested in advance by establishing a trial coating area. An additional intermediate coat may be required for dark or deviant coloured substrates and colour shades of low opacity, e.g. yellow, red or orange. |
Consumption
Approx. 135 – 180 ml/m2 per coat. These reference values for consumption vary depending on the nature and condition of the substrate. Determine the exact amount of material required by coating a test area on site.Do not apply more than 200 ml/m2 per coat!
Application Conditions
Lower Temperature Limit for Application and Drying:Min. 5 ° C for product, substrate and ambient air.
In Germany: Follow VOB Part C (DIN 18 363, section 3.1.10). The product should not be applied for e.g. in direct sunlight or on sun heated substrates, during strong wind, fog or rain, high relative humidity or imminent rain, etc..
Drying/Drying Time
At 20 ° C and 65 % relative humidity | dust dry | rainproof | recoatable |
after hours | 1 hour | 2 hours | 12 hours |
Tool Cleaning
Clean immediately after use with thinner Disbocolor 499.

Disposal
Materials and all related packaging must be disposed of in a safe way in accordance with the full requirements of the local authorities. Particular attention should be made to removing wastage from site in compliance with standard construction site procedures. In Germany: Only completely empty containers should be handed in for recycling. Dispose containers with residues of liquid product via waste collection point accepting old paints and enamels. Dispose dried/hardened product residues as construction site/demolition/municipal or domestic waste.
