    Suitable for adhesion-promoting primers on old paints, varnishes, wood, zinc, rigid PVC, aluminium, copper and many other critical substrates before subsequent coatings with acrylic or alkyd resin varnishes (do not use alkyd resin varnishes on zinc). Can be used indoors and outdoors.

    Tintable in various colour shades via ColorExpress.

    When applying colours with low opacity, such as Red, Orange or Yellow, it is advisable to apply one priming coat using the matching colour shade of our Priming System. Priming System colours are available for Capacryl Haftprimer via the ColorExpress tinting technique.

    Suitable Substrates

    Suitable for wood, wood-based materials, zinc, aluminium, copper, rigid PVC and stable old coatings. Cannot be used on anodised aluminium. The substrate must be clean, stable, dry and free from separating substances. The wood moisture content must not exceed 13 % for dimensionally stable wooden components and 15 % for limited and non-dimensionally stable wooden components.

    Substrate Preparation

    Wooden Parts:
    Sand the surface in fibre direction, clean thoroughly, remove all seeping wood contents, e.g. wood resin/rosin and resin galls (resin/pitch pockets). Cut sharp edges (see BFS Merkblatt No. 18).

    Zinc, Unplasticized (Rigid) PVC:
    Wash with light ammonia solution using a plastic sanding fleece as per BFS Merkblatt No. 5 and No. 22 or Gescha Multi-Star with sanding fleece. Sweep blast according to requirements.

    Aluminium, Copper:
    Clean with destined detergents, e.g. Gescha Multi-Star, then sand with a plastic abrasive fleece (see BFS Merkblatt No. 6).

    Existing Paint Coatings:
    Sand the surface of existing coats of paint and/or treat slightly with alkali. Remove unstable existing coatings.

    Method of Application

    Capacryl Haftprimer is ready for use and can be applied by brush, roller or spraying equipment. 
    Stir well before use and dilute to a max. of 5 % with tap (potable) water, if necessary.

    ✱Two intermediate coats are required on dimensionally stable wooden parts, according to BFS Data Sheet No. 18.
    1)Always apply Capacryl Holz-IsoGrund on wood with water-soluble, discolouring substances of content, 2x for knots.
    2)Pretreat defects in existing paint coatings according to substrate requirements.
    3)Apply two finishing coats, if necessary (e.g. when yellowish or reddish colour shades with low opacity/covering power are used).
    Note: Adhesion must be tested in advance for powder coatings, coil coatings and other problematical substrates by a trial coating.

    Consumption

    Approx. 100 - 130 ml/m2 per coat.
    Consumption is only a guide value and may vary, depending on substrate requirements. 
    Determine the exact amount of material required by coating a test area on site.

    Application Conditions

    Lower Temperature Limit for Application and Drying:
    +8 °C for product, substrate and ambient air.
    Relative humidity must not exceed 70 %.

    Drying/Drying Time

    At 20 °C and 65 %

    Lower temperatures, higher humidity and a higher film thickness extend the drying time.

    Tool Cleaning

    Clean tool after use with water and wetting agent, e.g. Gescha Multi-Star. It is recommended the wearing of nitrile gloves.

    Note

    Melamine resin boards: Depending on the composition and type of melamine resin, a test coating with subsequent adhesion test in accordance with DIN EN ISO 2409 must be carried out.

    Contains 1,2-benzisothiazol-3(2H)-one, reaction mass of 5-chloro-2-methyl-2H-isothiazol-3-one and 2-methyl-2H-isothiazol-3-one (3:1). May produce an allergic reaction. Warning! Hazardous respirable droplets may be formed when sprayed. Do not breathe spray or mist. Safety data sheet available on request. For commercial/industrial applications.

    Disposal

    Materials and all related packaging must be disposed of in a safe way in accordance with the full requirements of the local, regional, national and international authorities. Washing water must not be discharged into the sewage system or the environment.

    EU limit value for the VOC content

    of this product (category A/i): 140 g/l (2010). This product contains max. 90 g/l VOC.
