Field of Application
Water-dilutable and fast-drying interior paint with high opacity, for noble, matt surfaces. Particularly suitable as insulation paint for interior rooms which have to be open to the public within shortest time, as well as insulating coat on surfaces soiled with nicotine, soot, lignin and dried up water stains. Permeating substances of the substrate are properly insulated. Also suitable for repainting acoustic ceiling panels and sound-control plasters, when applied in accordance with given instructions for restoration.Material Properties

Material Base / Vehicle
Synthetic resin dispersion/emulsion according to German standard DIN 55945.
Packaging/Package Size
- Standard Product: 5 litres, 12.5 litres. Airfix: 25 litres hobbock
Colours
White. The paint is tintable to a max. of 3 % with universal colour pastes. If more than one container is manually tinted, all product must be thoroughly mixed before use in order to avoid colour differences. Quantities of 100 litres or more in individual colour shades may be ordered ready-tinted ex factory.
Aqua-inn №1 can be tinted to all current colour collections via the ColorExpress tinting & mixing machine system, up to luminosity/lightness index (LI) approx. 70. Check tinted product before applying in order to avoid colour differences. Always use tinted paint of same batch, when applying on seamless surfaces.
Gloss Level
Dull matt (Dead-matt according to DIN EN 13 300)
Storage
Keep in a cool, but frost-free place.

Suitable Substrates
The substrate must be sound/stable, dry, clean, and free from all substances that may prevent good adhesion. In Germany: Follow VOB, part C, DIN 18363, section 3.Substrate Preparation
Solid, slightly absorbent substrates or sound/stable, matt (flat) existing paint coatings can be coated without any preliminary treatment. Prime sanding, highly absorbent substrates or soft, sanded/grinded gypsum plasters with Caparol-Tiefgrund TB or AmphiSilan-Putzfestiger.
Surfaces Stained with Nicotine or Soot:
Wash off nicotine or soot deposits and coat the surface without additional pre-treatment.
Dried-Up Water Stains:
In individual cases the insulating effect of Aqua-inn № 1 may be insufficient. For such problematic cases a trial application is essential and, if necessary, apply an additional suppressing coat of Caparol AquaSperrgrund, Capalac Isolierspray or Capacryl Holz-Isogrund. Clean dried-up water stains by dry scrubbing.
Lignin Discolouration on Gypsum Plasterboards:
Surfaces can be coated without additional pre-treatment.
Sound-Absorbing Covering Ceilings and Sound-Control Plasters:
The restoration of sound-absorbing systems requires a special approach. Detailed instructions are provided in the Caparol manual for spraying technoloy. The manual can be orderd via Caparol. Please ask for advice, if necessary.
Revision:
Aqua-inn № 1 can be coated with itself. On subsequently applied wallpapers apply one intermediate coat of Caparol Haftgrund or Caparol AquaSperrgrund.
Small Defects:
After having completed the necessary preparations, repair with filler Caparol-Akkordspachtel or AkkordLeichtspachtel in accordance with our processing specification and, if necessary, prime subsequently.
Method of Application
Apply with paint brush, roller or suitable spraying equipment.
Airless Application:
Spray angle: 40° - 50°
Nozzle size: 0.019" - 0.021"
Spray pressure: approx. 200 bar
(Only air-assistet airless paint spray equipment is suitable for acoustic system applications.)
Surface Coating System
One even, liberally applied coat of undiluted Aqua-inn № 1.Surfaces with colour contrast or high contamination/soiling: One previously applied priming or intermediate coat of Aqua-inn № 1, diluted to a max. of 5 % with tap (potable) water.
On unevenly absorbent substrates apply one priming coat of AquaSperrgund or Caparol-Haftgrund.
Consumption
Approx. 150 ml/m2 per coat on smooth substrates. On roughly textured surfaces correspondingly more. Determine the exact amount of material required by coating a test area on site.Application Conditions
Lower Temperature Limit for Application and Drying:
+ 5 °C for product, substrate and ambient air.
Lower temperature limit to achieve an optimal insulating effect: +16 °C.
Drying/Drying Time
At +20 °C and 65 % relative humidity: surface-dry after 4-6 hours and recoatable after 12 hours. Completely dry (cured) and ready for stress after 3 days. Lower temperatures and higher humidity extend the drying time.Note
Apply wet-on-wet without interruption to avoid lapping. Many types of impurities can be dissolved in a particular substrate, hence previously applied trials are recommended before applying paint coatings on contaminated surfaces.
Do not use Aqua-inn № 1 on surfaces exposed to moisture or water vapour (damp locations).
Stir and sieve the paint thoroughly for airless spray application.
Due to the use of Caparol-Tiefgrund TB in interiors, a typical solvent odour is released, hence proper ventilation must be provided during application and drying phase. Use non-aromatic, low-odour AmphiSilan-Putzfestiger in sensitive areas.
Compatibility:
Do not mix the paint with other materials.
German Certificates
- Measuring of acoustic (sound) absorption in accordance with DIN EN 20 354.
Test report No. 48 690, sonic-engineering consulting centre Müller-BBM, Planegg.

Disposal
Materials and all related packaging must be disposed of in a safe way in accordance with the full requirements of the local authorities. Particular attention should be made to removing wastage from site in compliance with standard construction site procedures. In Germany: Only completely empty containers should be handed in for recycling. Dispose containers with residues of liquid product via waste collection point accepting old paints and enamels. Dispose dried/hardened product residues as construction site/demolition/municipal or domestic waste.
